Brown Interview Pointless?

What is the point of the Brown Interview if it does not influence your admission? Do the alumni write some sort of rec?

They do write a report. My interviewer said it was basically a chance for applicants to ask any questions they have, and to tell the admissions committee anything they might have left out of the application.

The point is, moreover, to get you excited about Brown. And for me, at least, it worked with flying colors: my campus visit was when I came to like Brown, my interview was when I came to love Brown.

And, by the way, I think that choosing not to do an interview looks pretty bad, and you have no reason to do so, so don’t.

It’s not pointless, but it’s not likely to influence the decision much unless it’s awful (you’re very rude, come across as not interested in the shcool, etc) or excellent (something comes out in your interview that wasn’t on your application).

My interview for Brown was awful. My interviewer seemed completely unenthusiastic about the school and uninterested in me (it was one of those 20-minute “factory” interviews). But I loved the school and I got in anyway, so no worries.
