Brown plme deferred

Is getting deferred from brown plme an accomplishment? I checked the no box that said I would not be interested in rd if I didn’t get into brown. Thanks

Yes, getting deferred to PLME means that you do have the credentials to get into Brown undergrad! It is not something i would list as an accomplishment on another schools application though, lol!!
But it is something to be proud of! Remember that Brown’s general acceptance rate is from 9-13 % most years recently. You weren’t told that you are accepted to Brown undergrad regular status, because you weren’t in the pool to be told that. Also there is the smallest chance that you could be not accepted to Brown regular under grad in the regular decision pool IF:1. you withdraw your application (ie tell Brown that you really only want to be there due to the PLME program, have been accepted somewhere else you want to go premed, and not to bother keeping you in the PLME deferral pool.)
2. If the Adcom has for some reason a very strong sense that this is true, (you are not very interested in Brown as an undergrad, but only because of PLME) then they may not offer you an undergrad slot, if in the RD process the PLME committee rejects you.
BUT, they do not send any applications to PLME committee who they feel are not qualified for regular Brown admission, so your acceptance to regular undergrad is ALMOST guaranteed! NOTE, I SAY ALMOST!

Box has been checked, and was deferred by Brown ED and PLME, does this mean there is almost no chance to be accepted in RD? And does that mean the applicant’s application papers have never seen by PLME dept. in ED process?

Thank you

Hmm, that is an interesting question. It should mean that you were deferred as regular decision and sent to PLME and also deferred, but you would think that would be a rejection of PLME and deferrred regular. (except that there are some very different criteria for regular and PLME re the science side of things, so could be deferred both. Or it could mean that PLME did not yet read your folder.) And this does make me wonder if there could be folders that say defered PLME that are deferred regular (and did not get to PLME commitee) but because they did not check the “tell me re undergrad regular decision too box”. (which would be sort of misleading.)

thank you :)
