Brown is need aware. Anyone known if most transfer admits did not apply for financial aid?
How do I send a PM?
@sumnam1 Only the upload option.
okay cool!
@sumnam1 Just the upload, and today it reappeared.
@kcasssuu same with me! just checking, as the wording was confusing.
Hopefully we hear back tomorrow!
Do they not send out an email telling us when they will release the decisions?
Someone earlier said in 2018 they just sent it.
Last year they sent out the email on a Friday, and then followed up with decisions the next week, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we heard from them in terms of decisions or an email tomorrow. Either way, I think we can expect decisions to be out very soon!
Is it bad if I did not submit a video portfolio?
@Sydneyhou in past years there hasn’t appeared to have been any major correlation between submitting one vs not submitting and acceptance. However, while it likely isn’t counted against you, doing it can help your application as a means of showing more of yourself as an applicant, which is definitely an advantage.
My upload options and the checklist are still there.
In 2018 the checklist disappeared an hour before they came out
With no pre warning?
@QuitsAverage based on the 2018 thread, it seems like they didn’t get any warnings
purely speculation, but I wouldn’t be surprised if decisions come out early next week once they have final numbers from freshman committing (today being May 1) because it seems like there’s a lot more uncertainty this year than most. but maybe if we call admissions they’ll give us more info haha
yea u should call
hello everyone, I’m junior applicant from California. My gpa is a little lower that what I have seen to be average of everyone here and I don’t think I would have a chance of getting in normally but my younger sister is a freshman at Brown and I am a Division 1 rower, tho not committed to rowing at brown yet. Probably shouldn’t bank to much on my sister, but that is something that separates me from you guys rn. All of my essays were very strong as well as my letters of Rec. whatever happens, happens. If I were to speculate about decisions, which seems to be what the last couple of pages in this forum have been, I would assume that there is a possibility that because of the serious uncertainty of whether or not there is even going to be a fall semester (based on information my sister is receiving), firstly they may only accept transfer students to enter in the spring semester (usually the transfer admits are separated into a fall or spring admission). This could mean they only accept half of their usually average transfer admits. Second, with all of the uncertainty I doubt we will be getting any decisions back soon. I hope I’m wrong. hope well all get in (but mostly me sorry) and become best friends next year on campus LOL.
Just want to ease everyone’s worries and remind people that the above post is largely speculative. CPax has already indicated her desire for campus to reopen for fall, but even if campus isn’t open until spring, there’s no reason to believe that Brown would accept half as many applicants instead of having all admits begin in spring.
Also, no matter what, decisions will be out in the next two weeks. If there’s any informed guess to be made, it’s that many people will be waitlisted. I think the best thing we can all do for our applications right now is to work hard in school and keep our grades up despite the circumstances.
