Brown Transfer Fall 2020

I know the freshman waitlist got extended to mid-july, does anyone know if that also applies to the transfer waitlist?

I saw postings that indicated that Brown would be announcing their fall plans “before July 15” —Those updated plans may lead some students not to return in August.

Does that mean the waitlist is going to be extended until mid-july?

Today Brown announced it is eliminating 11 Varsity teams— Recruited athletes for these teams may consider other colleges now…

"Effective immediately for the 2020-21 academic year, the University will transition 11 varsity teams to club status. Brown will cease training, competition and operations at the varsity level for men’s and women’s fencing; men’s and women’s golf; women’s skiing; men’s and women’s squash; women’s equestrian; and men’s track, field and cross country (which are three varsity sports under federal Title IX rules governing access to opportunities in sports).

I wonder if thats going to affect transfers at all or if any of these downsizing efforts will? I hope that this means more spots for waitlistees and I hope that our waitlist gets extended to mid-july as well so that more people could get off the waitlist. not really sure how any of this translates to waitlistee spots though :\

I think the situation will evolve through July possibly leading to more openings for people on waitlist. Some current students may not like the new fall plan that will be announced in July —The recruited athletes for the canceled sports may want to compete at other schools — Lots of moving parts…

Im not sure if athletes allowed to transfer now that its already summer? May be too late for them this year?

@appa2000 hey, how can I get in contact with you? Your interests align with mine and I’d like to know more about ur experience

just talked to admissions and they said waitlist decisions would be released rolling thru mid summer FYI

Does that mean it’s extended beyond mid-June? @gs123456

Hi!! Can someone post their admission letter here?

I think so, but i’m not sure. she just said “mid-summer”

Current Brown Students are waiting to see what the “official” opening plans are:

So has anyone heard back yet?

Nope :frowning:

I haven’t heard a decision yet. I got a response from my LOCI basically saying that they had received it but I haven’t heard anything other than that

@addy701 who did you send your lOCI to? And who responded to you?

@hiccppl I sent my LOCI to Logan Powell as well as transferapp@brown.edu (and I uploaded it to my portal-- trying to cover all my bases, haha). Response came from the Executive Assistant to the Dean of Admission named Diane Duphily on behalf of Logan Powell. The response was cordial, but nothing special or personalized – I speculate that it’s just a brief confirmation email they send to everyone who submits any additional letters/materials.

They just sent me an email this morning about an update to my portal. Said they didn’t accept me off of the waitlist.

same:(
