My point is that the Freshman Class of 2024 has a waitlist of approximately 300 for a target class size of 1665, which should be enough to ensure a full Freshman class.
For transfer students: If the Provost is quoted correctly and Brown “loses” 10% of Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors* that is approximately 500 “openings” for transfers this fall. You can reduce the 500 by assuming that there will be no “Senior Transfers” accepted.
So maybe, there are 300+ spots for sophomore and junior transfers…
Let's estimate that the group's size is 5,000. (6,752 undergrads -1665 Freshmen)
@finallysomeluck Hi! What did you talk about in your video? A bunch of the supplemental videos I saw on Youtube were pretty semi-professionally edited or some variation of a voice-over with photos and videos…do you think a one-take, sit down video would be just as meaningful (or maybe even more unique?)
@addy701 Not sure if this applies to transfers, but some applicants were already accepted from the waitlist. I think there were two waves already, one before May 1 and one last Monday, May 11.
I didn’t submit a video but got in. BTW, does anyone know if accepted students get a mailing package? Or do we have to commit before getting them? Because some of the other colleges I was accepted to are sending packages even if I didn’t commit yet.
Okay so I called admissions office twice and the first time they said that they already started making offers and the second time they second that offers won’t be made until after the enrolment deadline for accepted students. I’m really confused right now, if anyone has been accepted from the transfer waitlist could you please post about it here and you did it perhaps? I’m really stressed out right now
I feel like it would make more sense if they started offering spots after the enrollment deadline just in case the yield turns out higher than expected and they can’t just revoke their offer to the waitlisted student. But thats just my take @brownhopeful19301. They did start offering spots to freshman that were waitlisted perhaps that needed to be clarified
@brownhopeful19301 purely speculation but I would guess that @soulgaurdia is correct and that the spots offered to those on the waitlist (that the admissions office mentioned in your first call) have gone to first year applicants thus far. I am hoping that they will begin to notify us of decisions by early June, but I think it won’t be until after the may 25 deadline to accept the waitlist offer. in any case, good luck-- rooting for us all! ??
It has been my dream to attend brown for the longest time. I’ve flown to Providence just to visit brown with my family, and have worked almost every day as a waiter for over two years just to be able to afford tuition to go to Brown. As an international student as well things are tougher. It is my dream to go there. Hopefully some accepted students would have more appealing offers so that they can turn Brown down and open up a spot for some of us. Even a single one would make a chance for us waitlist students, and I know for me it would mean the world.
