anyone who was accepted, I’d love advice for next year
Does anyone know how many people were accepted this year and how many people applied?
We worked hard everyone! I was rejected but let’s not forget our worth! This is definitely a redirection moreso than a rejection.
@lilacfox I’m not sure how to PM on here but you can message me
Does anyone know how many people got off the waitlist every year?
@yjliu I don’t think they release any stats for transfers, but I’d say our chances are pretty low. No one in the CC thread reported getting off the waitlist last year.
Accepted as a junior transfer!
School: T10 public
GPA: 3.8 (college); 3.9 UW (high school)
Major: applied for Public Health and Ethnic Studies at Brown
ECs: In high school, I was all over the place, not passionate about anything. In college, I’ve been a research assistant for almost 2 years, I volunteered, I was a resident assistant, and I had an on-campus job
Essays: Worked on them a lot, very personal and reflected my passion in health equity.
Video: Pretty generic, nothing special.
Recs: one from my research mentor, and one from my professor
Also: I applied senior year of high school but was rejected lol, but my high school teachers wrote really good letters of rec for me, so I’m sure that that helped
Accepted: Brown, UCLA, Berkeley
Rejected: Duke
My advice: Everyone already says this, but start working on your essays early, not for a strategic reason, but more so for your mental wellbeing. I didn’t give myself that much time to write my essays, and as a result, I spent every minute of my free time (which I didn’t have much to begin with) writing essays. I put way too much on my plate in terms of classes and extracurriculars, and transfer apps contributed enormously to my stress. I was exhausted and overworked this year. I know this isn’t the typical acceptance post, but I just want to be blunt and let you know that I would’ve done the transfer process differently if I could do it over again. Message me if you have any other questions!
Is anyone else considering not enrolling because of the lack of financial aid?

To anyone accepted, how much financial need do you have?

Did you each apply for FA?
Accepted from a T20 school with a 4.0 college GPA, 4.5/4.0 HS GPA, 34 ACT score, good prof recs, and great ECs!! So excited to have this option. I also got into Columbia
@Dogscatsdogs So great to hear! I am also looking to apply to these two schools next year, and I was wondering if you applied for financial aid and which direction you’re learning towards?
Applied in H.S. through Early decision, got deferred then rejected. Now, rejected again!
Accepted: Northeastern
Rejected: Brown
Waiting: USC and Boston University
Hello everyone,
I was accepted a couple of days ago from Brown, waitlisted at Harvard. Still waiting on a few others in the coming week. I was previously rejected from Brown in high school. I applied from a decent state school with a 4.0, 1560, AP Scholar with Distinction. I was an Eagle Scout, became president of Pre-Med early in freshman year, had a couple of research positions at labs across campus. I was honestly shocked to get in as a neuroscience major; I still cannot believe it. I honestly think the video helped me the most because it gave me a chance to be very creative and personable, unlike some other school’s applications. I also did not make one last year before I was rejected, so no shock there. I just wanted to add some info for people that are curious about applying in the future or just wanted to see the profile of an admitted student. Cheers.
How likely do we think getting off of the wait list is?
The Brown Provost was quoted in the Brown Daily Herald on May 6th — estimating that 10% of Brown students may not return in the fall…
“Locke added that the University expects that 10 percent of students will not return to campus in the fall, either due to travel restrictions or choosing to take a gap year.”
For reference: Brown placed 300 students on the Class of 2024 waitlist, according to this article in the Brown Daily Herald:
“The waitlist, he predicted, will have roughly 800 active students this year. In recent years, the University has admitted anywhere between two to 300 students off of the waitlist, The Herald previously reported.”
Thats for freshman class though, which is irrelevant to the transfer waitlist. I wonder how transfer retention rate is going to be affected by this whole thing as well as current student attendance rate since you stated that hes expecting 10% of students to not return.
