I’m very sad right now, especially after getting the awful subject test scores back today.

Rank- top 10%
Weighted GPA- 4.94
Unweighted GPA- 3.63
Grades- As, some Bs, 1 C (My school is on a 7-point scale, and all of the Bs and that C would have been a letter grade higher if we had been on the 10-point scale, and my counselor told me I could say that in the Additional Information on Common App because my state is transitioning to 10-point next year.)
SAT- CR: 660, M: 670, W: 720
SAT II- Math II: 630, Literature: 690
IB Diploma Candidate
ECs- piano, pole dance, circus arts, Model UN, Quiz Bowl, volunteer diversity program
recs- great
essays- great (honestly my only chance)

I’m confident about my essays, but the rest of the application, with the grades and scores, just makes me feel hopeless. Thanks!

“on a 7-point scale”
If you can’t read, you shouldn’t be chancing other people.

3.63 is a crap unweighted GPA. A 2050 SAT score is way below average for Brown. There is zero hope for any college in the top 20 and very little hope for any college in the top 40.

Honestly, I would look towards state schools. Penn State and Virginia Tech are really good schools that I would recommend. Honestly, your SAT score, recs, ECs (minus the pole dancing) would set you up as a pretty decent candidate for Wake Forest.

I must agree with the others that Brown is out of your reach right now (mainly because of the lack of leadership) but that doesn’t mean you can’t get into some other really good schools. I think you’d fair well in the pool for Penn State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
