Brown vs Brooklyn college

I’m interested in medicine and becoming a doctor. Would Brooklyn college BA/MD program combined with Macaulay honors college (full undergraduate tuition at brooklyn) be better than a premedical route at Brown university. I am very confident that I will not be switching my interest of study. Thanks for your advices!

Depends on which med schools you want to attend and the grades you are willing to shoot for / expect

Well Brooklyn ba md is affiliated with suny downstate med school. Do you know how good that is? Also I am aiming for a 3.5 gpa minimum, which is what is required for Brooklyn BA/MD

Brown has a BS/MD program as well. It’s called the Program in Liberal Medical Education, or PLME.

I applied to brown’s plme too, but I highly doubt I will be chosen :/

i would deff choose brown—the medical acceptance rate for brown is like a redic 90% or something…i am sure you will excel more and your residency considers where you go for med school to get matched…im sure that if u got into brown that u could get into a great med school

Is cost a factor? If it is, I’d probably go with Brooklyn. Since your undergraduate degree would literally cost you nothing, you’d most likely have less debt than most when you finally become a doctor. Also, the Macaulay Honors College is well-known among graduate and medical schools, so you really have nothing to worry about there. Brown might open a few more doors for you, but is the debt (assuming you will have some) really worth it?

You’re crazy if you even consider Brooklyn over Brown. If cost is a factor Brown has excellent financial aid. In addition, the university and the subsequent degree will open up so many more doors for you.
