What are the pros and cons of each university. I am going into premed and I like medium sized universities with warm weather. Can someone compare these universities in academics, reputation, social life, professors etc. What about grad schools… how will they look at these schools? Any information on these schools in appreciated. What are their general reputations by academia? and on CC? Thank you!

hmmm…for pre med, I would say that Emory gets the edge…Emory has excellent weather… Brown would be colder I would think… for social life, it may be Brown because I hear it has a great, chill atmosphere but Emory is pretty good as well… I think professors at both universities are good … not sure about Brown, but Emory has some great people either as a vising professor or as a lecturer like Salman Rushdie, Dalai Lama, former president Jimmy Carter… academics wise, I think they are both equal… reputation wise, I would say Brown edges out Emory (remember, it has the “Ivy” brand) … grad schools would know that both places are great. On CC, I think that Emory is a bit underrated… maybe perhaps because of its Southern location… Brown gets lots of CC love…personally, I would go to Emory over Brown but there are definitely people that would do the opposite… both are great… maybe you should visit both. Someone who is more knowledgeable about Brown can offer their opinions as well.

You need to say a lot more about what you want than “premed” (fantastic at both), “medium-sized” (both), and “warm weather” (Emory). Right now you’ve got Emory fans chiming in, but you really haven’t given us anything to go on.

Very few people are going to be able to do direct comparisons (we all only go to one school, after all), and you haven’t really given us guidance.

okay modestmelody… prestige is important to me but not the end all be all… I want a school where I can research… preferebly liberal leaning … I have a question for you modest, what is the general perception of Emory from students at Brown and how do you think it compares to Brown… I also don’t drink, or smoke (not because of religious reasons… I’m atheist… I just think its pointless)… theres a bit more about me.
