Brown Waitlist 2018

No, we are US citizens in the US.

Rejection in the mail today

THE WAIT IS OVER #reject

Recieved in the mail today. Pretty ironic bc was rejected to my final waitlist school while visiting my committed school ( Oh well, ■■■■ bears unless they’re golden anyway.

also im not international

What states are you guys in (the ones who received rejections in the mail today)…just wondering if you are west coast/east coast and if you may have received them earlier than others because you are closer to Brown.

MA. I’m like 45 minutes from Brown.

i live in new jersey

Micabo128- You are going to love Cailifornia! Don’t give Brown another thought!

When was the letter dated?

@princessy May 27, 2014. if anyone actually wants to see the rejection letter then here lol http://i59.■■■■■■■.com/vd05yc.jpg</a>
@BCAMom2014‌ Thank you!

Also I just read this again and pay attention to the second sentence: “The high number of commitments from accepted students, however, means that we will not be able to make any offers to waitlisted students for the Class of 2018 at Brown”. Sounds like they’re either done or they never actually accepted anyone off the waitlist at all. Could be wrong but that’s what I’m seeing from this.

Thanks for posting the letter. Yes, it definitely sounds like they made no offers this year. Their website (go to brown admissions and click on undergraduate) states that they have a few spaces and will be making offers through June 15th.
Strange to have that wording in the letter, which definitely sounds like no one was offered admission.

Very true, it is on the website: “We have a small number of spaces available in the Class of 2018. Brown will be offering these spaces on a rolling basis through mid June.” I have no idea what’s right lol, Browns messing with us either way

@micabo128‌ Thank you for sharing the letter. If it’s not too much to ask, has your application decision changed on http://selfservice.brown.edu? Also, I’m sure you will end up loving the college you’ve enrolled in! We just have to keep faith that everything will work out for the better, I suppose!

it has not been changed; it’s still at “Decision: Admission decisions are currently not available.”

<a href=“Yield rate holds steady at 59.9 percent - The Brown Daily Herald”>Yield rate holds steady at 59.9 percent - The Brown Daily Herald;

The above news report seems to convey that the decision is ongoing depending on summer melt.

Many conflicting information in this discussion thread…

Does anyone on this thread have an admission letter they would be willing to post so we could see the wording on that one? If anyone was admitted, how long do you have to accept before they offer to someone else?

Received my rejection letter yesterday too… :frowning: From what I am seeing of the conflict (waiting list used or not used), I just go with the logic that maybe they just used the same letter as last year, and they didn’t notice it said that. Also, we’re pretty intelligent people to know that they really used the waiting list based on the web, their news, and this wonderful site. lol :wink: I don’t believe they write a new letter to send students each year, they just use the same ones as past years. ;)

astrogirl, I’m sorry it wasn’t the news you wanted. I think you may be right, that Brown used last year’s letter (claiming no one off the wait list was offered a spot in the class of 2018). I really have no idea why they said that-- it’s not the case. I’m sure you have another school you are really excited about, so best wishes to you there!

summerisland2018, Brown was flexible. They initially gave @ a week, but made it clear that if we needed more time (for a valid reason, like to hash out financial aid), they could extend the deadline.I think once the waitlisted students who were offered admission and choose to NOT attend Brown inform Brown of their decision, Brown will then reach out to other students on the waitlist, and offer them that spot in the class of 2018.
