Brown's Pre-College Program

Who is attending Summer@Brown this year ?
What course ? When ? Where are you from ?

No one ? Really ? Am I gonna be alone for like 3 weeks, because that doesn’t sound super fun…

I am very interested in the program but I have 2 questions. 1, when is the application deadline? and 2, how much does it cost? Thanks!

I don’t know if there’s a application deadline, but I’m pretty sure there isn’t, the only thing is, if you need finaid, you have to apply pretty fast, because they go away in no time… But I have heard of people who went there even though they applied in May…

For the cost, it really depends on the course.
You should find all the information necessary here: [2012 Pre-College Program Fees | Brown University Office of Continuing Education](Pre-College Program | Brown University)

And here’s the link to the Dean’s Scholarship: [Dean’s Scholarships | Brown University Office of Continuing Education](http://brown.edu/ce/pre-college/scholarships.php)

Also, a few of the courses have a supplemental fee, anyways, here’s the course catalog, if there is a supplemental fee, it’ll be mentioned in the course description: [2012 Course Catalog: 249 Courses | Brown University Office of Continuing Education](http://brown.edu/ce/pre-college/catalog/)

Thanks so much! Just curious, how selective is this program? Does anyone who applies get in? I really want to do it! What are the most popular courses?

I don’t think it is, selective, or at least not to my knowledge. Basically everyone gets in. I’ve heard (well, read on a thread…) that people with C’s and a few B’s got in. Now, if you’re gonna apply for finaid, it’ll be different cause the scolarships are either merit or need-baised… So someone applying for a need-based scholarship must have good grades.

For you choice of courses, it really depends on you, I know “So you want to be a doctor” is very popular, but it’s a large class, So if you don’t like that, you might want to consider something else. Personally, my first choice will be Music & Politics: From Mozart to M.I.A, and my second will be about the influence of Politics in humor.

Anyways, here’s the course catalog: [2012 Course Catalog: 250 Courses | Brown University Office of Continuing Education](http://brown.edu/ce/pre-college/catalog/)

Also, I was just wondering, where are you from and everything. (I would totally understand if you didn’t want to give out that kind of information though…)

Okay, thank you! I am debating whether I should do the pre-college program or the seven week credit courses. But if I were to do the pre-college program then I would probably choose something in the career exploration field. And I am from NY. What about you?

Paris… (hence the bad english.)
