BrownUniversity.XXX?

Really? BrownUniversity.XXX?

Have you seen this adult domain site that appears to be readying for a full site launch? I found this article claiming that the University was able to purchase BrownU, and BrownUniv, dot xxx, but they were unable to secure the rights to the proper school name: [U</a>. buys .xxx domain names in preventative move - News - The Brown Daily Herald - Serving the community daily since 1891](http://www.browndailyherald.com/news/u-buys-xxx-domain-names-in-preventative-move-1.2695426#.Ty9tF-NWr0g)

It’s hard to believe that an institution as large as Brown would miss getting the domain of BrownUniversity.XXX! Do you think that they will try to purchase the URL to prevent adult content from being published?

They don’t need to try to purchase the domain. There is a cost-effective and fast legal procedure called the UDRP that they will use if they feel that the facts merit it. Cybersquatting is no longer an effective business, as all of the .xxx squatters will discover.
