Bruce Springsteen Tour

Kicks off tonight in New Jersey, and ends next month in Wisconsin. So, are there any CCers going to one of his concerts? We’ll be there tonight.

the closest we have been able to get is going to our local Art Museum for a showing of “Live from Barcelona” concert…where we ran into friends - the husband had gone to HS in Pa and had seen Bruce the same summer dh and I did - we in a small closed movie theater in upstate NY, he at a College - he talked about all the plastic folding chairs being broken during the concert as the audience
jumped on them …later I googled concerts to find out when we had each gone and found a fan with a lot of time who has put up copies of tickets, etc from all the concerts - ours in upstate NY in July 1975 and our friend’s in Kutztown Pa three days later, referencing the broken chairs -

have fun!!!

We’ll be at Gillette Stadium on Foxboro Mass on August 2nd! WooHoo!

NEMom have a great time tonight! Tell us how awesome it is!

Thanks! Can’t believe my DH was able to land these amazing tickets. He bought them last December!

Lafalum, Cross posted with you, thanks, and will do!

We’ll be seeing him @ Hershey with our closest friends and DD#2. We can’t wait!

NEM - Please let us know the playlist. We’ll wait for your expert report.

Here are my impressions of the concert I saw on the first American leg of the tour. It was the show immediately after Danny Federici’s funeral: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/1060246606-post9.html</a></p>

Lucky you! Have a wonderful time.

Last fall I saw him in Chicago with a friend that was a “Bruce virgin.” This is a man that’s been to many concerts. He declared it one of the top concerts he’s every attended.

In March, DH, same friend, his ex, and I saw him in Indianapolis. Ex was also a “Bruce virgin.” She was amazed.

This week DH and I took our two children and a couple of friends to their first big concert–Foo Fighters. S is a big fan. He wrote a 15 page research paper on them for his gifted/talented project (gotta love the little rebellion as his classmates wrote papers on far more traditional subjects) I kept thinking throughout the concert that this sure isn’t Bruce.

Next time the chance is available I really want to take our children to see him. Recently D and I were away for a weekend sporting event. She nicely put some Bruce songs on her ipod and hooked it up to the sound system in the car. She admitted she liked his voice  We had a great time singing Thunderroad while driving.

I’ll be at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, too, but will be working in one of the concession stands. All of the stands are staffed by non-profit organizations and it is our major source of fund raising for the year. Hard work, but we have fun and get to listen to the music at the concerts and experience the Patriots games up close and personal. Last year, we were assigned a different booth for the Bon Jovi concert and we were right near the stage, so that was a treat. Can’t wait for Bruce, though - I’ve never seen him live.

Okay, I am going to hit the hay, but I came back for a quick post first. The concert was GREAT! It did start an hour late. I never expected it to start on time, but people were growing a bit impatient. It was worth the wait. The concert started at 8:30 and I left at 11:00 and he was still performing, without an intermission. He was high energy the whole time! For some of his play list he took suggestions from banners that were held up (he went into the audience to collect them). That suggests that not all concerts will be the same. One thing that you won’t hear at concerts outside of NJ, is that he said it feels good to be back home.

T-shirt prices were crazy-$40. Beer was $8, and water was $4+. We resisted everything except for one bottle of water. I have a t-shirt from another concert (too long ago to tell you the year, LOL).

For those of you going, enjoy your concert! We had a great time!

He does vary the set list somewhat from night to night, which is why some fans go to multiple shows on the tour. You can click on the set lists for each show here: [Bruce Springsteen Live: brucespringsteen.net](http://www.brucespringsteen.net/live/index.html)

BTW, my wife picked up a “Tramps Like Us” T-shirt to put on when she wants to embarrass the kids.

We saw him in Munich years ago when he was doing the Born in the USA tour. Definitely worth seeing live.

We’ll be at Giants stadium tonight for his show. I have only seen him one previous time (also at Giants stadium) and was amazed at the energy that he puts into the show. Of course that was over 15 years ago, so we’ll see how well he ages.

ff,

You will not be disappointed. The first time I saw him was over 30 years ago. He still has the “magic” on this tour.

The Springsteen shows were fabulous before the big stadium shows: Georgetown U McDonougle gym, which was not unlike the old high school hops; and twice at the Carter Barron in Rock Creek Park. Even before that E Street and Bruce played at the now defunked Childe Harold in Dupont Circle.

Bruce Springsteen does as good a job as – better than – anyone with stadium shows, but I don’t think I’ve ever been to a really satisfactory show in a stadium. Unfortunately, I’ve never been able to see him with fewer than about 15,000 people in attendance. He’s great, but I can see a great band a week in a club for months on what it costs to see one of his shows, and I would rather do that.

I took my son to seem his Rock The Vote concert with Bright Eyes and John Fogerty four years ago. Despite the fact that my son really likes some Springsteen imitators – Marah, Ike Reilly – he was pretty unmoved by Springsteen (and Fogerty, with whom he was very unfamiliar). He loved Bright Eyes, though. (So did I – I had never heard him/them before. The best part of the experience was how joyful Conor Oberst was when he got to trade off verses on Born To Run with Springsteen and Fogerty.)

I don’t have stadium tour tickets, unfortunately, but I did see the Magic tour concert at Continental Arena last fall, with my S, who is a huge fan. (Obviously brought up right! :))

Seen him myself about 10-12 times, everything from small theater in Red BAnk to Giants STadium. Great concerts in all different venues.

fundingfather, enjoy the concert tonight!

I won’t make it to any shows this time around, there aren’t many options for this while living near Seattle. One of the true highlights of my life was getting 5th row tickets to one of the Reunion Tour shows. I guess I will just have to find a good bootleg copy to trade for to get me through my disappointment.

JHS,

I also took my family to see one of VFC shows. Our line-up was Tracy Chapman, R.E.M., Fogarty & Bruce. My younger daughter loved R.E.M., older daughter fell asleep during Springsteen (it was a Friday after a long day at school and an even longer traffic filled drive to Orlando).

When they all came out to do Patti Smith’s “People Have the Power”, it felt like the 60s again!

My kids and I tried so hard to get VFC tickets but couldn’t. We are all also huge REM fans, and the idea of them and Bruce together was just unbelievable–wish i’d been there.
