I’ve never gotten a B through my high school career but it looks like I may end up with a B in engineering and a B in AP Gov. However, engineering is 2 periods in my schedule so It shows up as two B’s on my transcript. My SAT is 1480 and I’m applying to schools like UCLA, UCB, Cal Poly, UCSB, Stanford, Harvard, and Santa Clara. Will the B’s be a deal breaker?
The 1480 is probably a deal breaker for Stanford and Harvard, along with a couple of Bs. Of course, your chances are slim to being with. I think you should assume those two schools won’t happen. You will probably be fine for the rest.
UCB/UCLA/UCSB and Cal poly SLO will not consider Senior grades in your admission decision and a few B’s are fine. For Harvard, Stanford and Santa Clara which will ask for Mid-year transcripts, a few B’s are ok but just make you continue to do your best. C’s/D’s and F’s are the grades you want to avoid.
