Guys, last year drexel drexel med decisions came out around the 17th-19th. Do you think the same for this year?

@mistryse13- wow, that’s like…today-Tuesday haha

Do you know when Nova/Drexel decisions came out last year? B/c if they came out on the 8th or so like they did this year, I woudl assume the same for Drexel/Drexel.

@sjshah, I checked for last years posts, and they came out a day earlier than this year’s villanova /drexel decisions

sjshah,

Did you solicit other physician’s opinions than your uncle’s? Since both schools locate in Philly, it would be wise to have input from local practicing doctors about reputation of these two schools, and past/current med students for the chance to get into those two specialties (you are far ahead of others in planning ahead). My guess is that Temple’s location is a turn-off. And your uncle’s assessment of Brown med education is SUBJECTIVE, need to be put into context.

I don’t deny the financial aspect, believe me, I know all about it. It was not an attack, I just don’t like the assumptions people make about turning down a program and “knowing” they will do well enough on the MCATs and in interviews to go to a better med school. Again, nothing is guaranteed, so I feel that it would be a waste to spend money on an undergrad name over a program. Brown does have an awesome med schoil acceptance rate, but it is still less than 100%.

@pcb1604- I respect my uncle’s opinion very strongly, however, my father (also a physician) told me that Brown will offer me a completely different experience than any other school. Brown Med has amazing matching for residencies, too, as when I talked to the Brown Med admissions councelor, she said that 94% of brown med students get their 1st choice residencies, which is amazing. Also, I have a friend at Brown med (4th year) who is going to orthopedics, just as I plan to go into.

However, going back to my original question, I could not care less about opinions on brown med, as if I’m accepted to PLME, I have no doubt that Brown will be my choice. HOWEVER the chances of that happening are slim for anyone, so I’m looking more at Drexel programs vs Temple/Temple.

@mistry- I would assume they would come VERY soon then, maybe even tomorrow depending on where you live.

@shah, I dont know if you saw my post from before, but essential this is what i said:
Yeah, I think the main factors you need to consider are the post undergrad interview, and also, what type of campus you perfer. Drexel and Temple are both in the city, which has both some perks and pitfalls, whereas if you like a slightly calmer setting, Villanova is right on the outskirts of Drexel (i think less that 30 minutes away) and has a much more serene campus. I have a few friends enrolled in the Villanova program, and they absolutely love their undergraduate time there.

@mistry- I mustve missed that post, thanks for the advice. I think I’m gonna have to re-visit all these schools to make my final decision, but that’s a good point that the determining factor is basically undergrad.

“I could not care less about opinions on brown med”, you were the one brought this up.
I’m sure your aware of orthopedics has large presence in philly.

no, actually I didn’t bring up any discussion on Brown Med. People just kept on straying from my main question- Temple vs. Drexel. However, I got my answer, and now I’m satisfied and trying to make my own decision if PLME doesn’t work out.

what a testy young man who wants to be a surgeon. Good luck.

Who? 10 char

@TheBombingRange, I am in the honors college ( i just got an e-mail for the reception, but no mail regrading actually getting in). I just want to know when/how the medical school notifies us if they want us to interview… because i’m like half way across the country and i need to book my flight ahead of time if anything. Do you know?

@exofactor yep, just got that email. I’m going the day before to Brookhaven so I may not go to the reception. I got the letter that I got in on Thursday. I just know they forwarded the app, not how I or when we would be notified. Did you do engineering or regular scholars for medicine?

I did regular scholars for med.

@BombingRange- He/she’s talking about me. Oh well

I thought he was talking about me lol. Just ignore it, everybody is entitled to his or her opinion.

Full of him/herself!

i understand that all penn state letters were generated on March 15. They will be coming in the mail in a couple of days.
