@texaspg yes it’s a 6 yr medical school in the UK, resulting in a BSc and MB ChB (equivalent of BS MD here). I applied because I’m originally from the UK

@TheBombingRange I actually got 20k for national merit but that doesn’t matter since i didn’t get in.
I also got into Drexel/Drexel with a full undergraduate scholarship so I’m trying to decide between the two

Congratulations! Are you admitted as an UK citizen? How many normally go from US to this program?

@texaspg, no my family naturalized a few years ago, so I was admitted as an international student. I don’t know how many US students go specifically to the medical school there, sorry

@newdoc it all comes down to whether you prefer Philly or NY… I don’t think that’s a hard choice. Drexel med is also pretty expensive, though.

@fallpsat your son really hit a home run with these programs! If you don’t mind me asking, are you guys Asian/Indian?

My D has been accepted to both Drexel and VCU programs, any ideas to help choose one?

So far, I got into Siena/AMC, Drexel/Drexel, and Brooklyn BA-MD. I am definitely not going to Brooklyn even though it is cheaper. Can someone help me decide which one to choose-- Siena/AMC or Drexel/Drexel?

Are you saying no to Brooklyn because of the MCAT requirement? Siena doesn’t need an MCAT, idk about Drexel. What is the reason you are saying no to Brooklyn right off the bat?

go to siena as drexel is not guarenteed

@TheBombingRange

I’m saying no to Brooklyn because the area is not safe. I’m not worried about the MCAT at all. My dad’s co-worker, who used to work at SUNY Downstate and lived only a few blocks away from the hospital told my family that he used to hear gunshots very often. That really freaks me out. I don’t want to live in such a crime-ridden area and risk my life. This is my major issue with Brooklyn.

@fallpsat

Other than a guaranteed spot, do you have any other comparisons between Siena and Drexel?

Choose Siena/AMC . No MCAT makes a huge difference. Both Drexel med and Albany are similar in their residency match .

Accepted to BU SMED as well. Did anyone get the Trustee Scholarship?

@Sbmhhs Actually Brooklyn isn’t as ghetto now as it used to be, thanks to gentrification. Most of my friends live in the areas around SUNY Downstate and Brooklyn College and it’s fine, unless you have something against Jewish communities. New York’s is rapidly changing and becoming a safer-yet-more-expensive place to live in.

@malibubeach

I don’t have anything against Jewish communities! I think you’ve got it switched. Years ago, Brooklyn was mostly Jewish, but now, many Jewish people have moved out of Brooklyn. I don’t have anything against any community, but after hearing what my dad’s co-worker said about the gunshots (and he lived very close to SUNY Downstate and not long ago either), I decided that I’m saying no to Brooklyn. I trust that experienced person, and especially since I come from the suburbs, I prefer to be in a safer environment.

@magna7

Thanks for the suggestion! I think I’ll choose Siena/AMC. :]

@fallpsat
What did you mean by “Drexel is not guaranteed”? bc of the MCAT requirement, or something we don’t know?

unfettered… be patient please. we’re not going to post until all decisions are done.

Frankly, I’m tired of your impatient posts. You have to realize that the application process is not yet over. Decisions, both favorable and unfavorable, are still being released. Applicants to these BS/MD programs have invested so much time and energy writing numerous essays, interviewing, and waiting in hopes of obtaining acceptances to their dream schools.

We simply have no obligation to post our stats for you. Those of us who choose to do so will in due time after all decisions have been released and we’ve selected our program of choice.

I’d also like to add that numbers only matter to a certain extent. Just demonstrate your passion for medicine and you’ll be best prepared for whatever comes up.

You guys are right, and I sincerely apologize. Just getting a little itchy since I feel like my time to do soething is slowly slipping away. I’ll be waiting…patiently.

Can someone talk about the Drexel program? (MCAT, your spot is not actually guaranteed, etc)

Sent from my SCH-I535 using CC

I didn’t apply to Drexel. It seems like I’m the only one here interested in Stony Brook… Nobody else has said anything at all…
