***BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2013***

@sanguinee It was a really tough admissions season this year for the programs, things were delayed, behind, unexpected, and not like they used to be. You’ll end up in the right place…

Yeah, this year was rough. Extremely rough. It seemed like everything got so much harder this year

sigh. senior year guys. senior year.

Sanguinee man major respect and admiration if that had happened to me I would have stabbed myself.

@sanguinee how many interviews did you get for programs? And no waitlists at all?

Yeah guys, do you know why everything ended up being so hard this year? NJMS is still backed up with interviews, Temple Med hasn’t even started, Hofstra comes out this week, it’s crazy! Any plausible reasons for why everything became so difficult this year?

Maybe it’s because we’re the Class of 2013…

2013: Because the world didn’t end in 2012

Is anyone concerned that if they accept a BS/MD program and then change their minds, they will be stuck in a lower-rated school versus accepting an offer at a higher-rated university? If you get accepted to a BS/MD program and decline a higher-rated university, can you at a later date still try to transfer to that higher-rated university in case you change your mind? Although you could say you should be certain about being a doctor now, you guys are still young and it is possible you could change your mind. My S got accepted to Siena but will have to decline Northwestern (did not get into HPME). Very conflicted on what to do!

@meadow1234 that’s a big concern of mine…also what’s everyone’s take on 7 vs 8 year programs??? Wishing luck to everyone for the upcoming week and any upcoming decisions!

@thebombingrange for the 15 combined programs - no interviews or waitlists. I got an interview for usciences but that programs is not even guaranteed, so i don’t even consider it as a program. Hopefully I’ll get some good news this week, waiting to hear back from 3 undergrads.

@asianandproud thanks lol, it can be overwhelming.

@sanguine good luck this week!

@meadow1234 I’m not concerned about not being interested in medicine, I’m more concerned about not being able to matriculate into med school and be left with a degree that won’t actually do anything for me… That’s why I like programs that let you do engineering or sciences for undergrad…

thank you @hamilton

I resorted to Wiki for general information and from there I followed all the references on GWUMC. Not much information on the program itself but got a good idea on their curriculum and internship opportunities.

I’ll post stats later, but for the time being, does anyone have an opinion of Penn State/Jefferson 6 year vs. Boston University Seven Year? Can’t believe I got into both!

My scholarships from either? Penn State excludes you from scholarships from Eberly, and BU never really gives much. If they have scholarships and that is a factor, look into that school. Plus, if you are into rankings, BU med is better.

Is’nt temple ranked much higher than drexel too… Is anybody seriously thinking about temple/temple!!! Am i the only one who is hearing not the greatest things about drexel med school…btw, i delined my interview with drexel…Just met up with a previous heath scholar student… She got above 30 on mcat on her first try, her room mate did so well that she opted out of temple. Anybody concerned about the interview, according to her it’s just a formality… The health scholars have their own day set aside for interview?.My uncle went to temple med school, and now is at Stanford … Raved about his experience and teaching at temple. Honors school gives you a very small class with the best teachers per the previous health scholar… She felt she reveived excellent undergrad edu and city life experience. No undergrad debt… Isn’t it too good to be true.!!!

@PennState you only pay for 2 years of college - so it sort of evens out with scholarships other schools give.

@meadow123 Did you son get into Sienna/AMC? If so decision is easy. If not I think NU is a better undergrad/Pre-med college.

just received my interview for Rice-Baylor MSP :D
