***BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2013***

@BombingRange- I would call em, but if they aren’t willing to budge their date, I would just send in a deposit to hold your spot. It’s probably just a way to get some more money, but in the long run, $300-500 is not as important as holding your spot at a really good program.

Wait decision date is the 12th for GW?? Are you sure???

I’m positive, check the response form. @Hamiltonlover, where else did you apply, and where have you been accepted?

I am deciding between George Washington and Albany Med.

@patrickstarr, My D got accpeted into BU SMED program. When she went for the interview they mentioned that 30 candidates are accepted out of 100 interviewed.

@forcollege did you use FAFSA and apply for financial aid?

@AnonDoc, Yes, we did use FAFSA but not really expecting any financial aid package at all. We were curious to see if she would get merit scholarship at BU but looks like she did not get trustee. Not sure if BU offers any other merit scholarship but at this point, she is not considering BU SMED and hence did not bother to check.

@forcollege what other programs does your daughter have?

Thinking about it, the chance of being an SMED 30/1000 applications AND being a Trustee Scholar 20/6000 is a .01% chance. Yeah, BU plays up their merit aid and programs real well. They even “encouraged” me to apply for ENGMEDIC for sophomore year.

Is ANYBODY on here besides me going to Stony Brook for an interview this week? I seem like the only one…

@TheBombingRange, I think you are right! BU gives either Trustee scholarship or BU SMED and rarely both. Smart move on their part :)

D has Harvard, NW HPME, BU SMED, Penn state (called for accelarated med. interview but did not attend) UC San Diego bioengg with full ride scholarship, Rice with trustee, USC with presidential, Case western with good money but was not called for PPSP interview, Univ. of pittsburgh with full tuition but not called for GAP interview.

My son got accepted in GW’s 7-years BA/MD. He is also offered full-ride for four years undergrad at a local public school.
We are trying to find more information on GW’s direct med program. Is this program comparable to other top ranking direct med programs? What should we consider (besides finance) before accepting the offer? The response date is April 12.
Any experiences from current or past students/parents will be highly appreciated.

@bombingrange - they are only looking for yes/no answer. Deposit and Declaration of Intent are due by May 1.

@mspark If I send them a yes and don’t put in my declaration and deposit, it won’t mean anything, right? I’m going to wait until their FA comes out on Friday. Do we get scholarships for the program? I also would like to know more about this programs, the websites don’t say much…

@bombingrange I applied to Union, GW, BU SMED, Drexel, Siena, and NJMS…interviewed for all of them and got into Union and GW so far (rejected Siena and BU)…

That’s pretty similar to me. I’m waiting to hear back from my NJMS interview and I have to interview at Stony Brook. Applied to NJMS, Stony, Union, Siena, BU, PPSP, Brooklyn, REMS and Sophie Davis. Rejected BU and Siena as well.

If I don’t get into UTMB EMSAP or UTSW I’m going to smash a hole in my wall. Seriously, I’ve had enough of this bull.

U mad bro? Are those your last programs? I remember you had awesome stats, the tables really turned this year, idk why…

Yeah, those are my last two. I only applied to 4 and the interviews for 2 of them were on the same day.

So you were shortlisted for PACT, @asianandproud?

I’m sorry, hoping for the best for everybody.

@asianandproud at least you didn’t apply to 15 different programs and got rejected to * every single* one of them.
