***BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2013***

@newdoc20202021 sounds good. ill let you know in a couple of days

@saxplayer123 If you want to go into pediatric endocrinology, do you need research as well? Does that typically need to be started in undergrad?

Thanks!

@meadow I’m not sure how competitive that is, but research won’t hurt your chances  The more dedicated you are to research, the more you will get out of it.

Son got his 2 top choices to choose from BS/MD.
Miami HPME 7yrs vs CWRU PPSP 8 yrs.give youe sugestions/comments.

@banyen. Pick CWRU - 4 yrs of UG is needed for students to mature to handle the rigors of med school

I feel the need to make a point here. I am a physician and my daughter is thinking of applying to these programs. It has been helpful to see how competitive the programs are and I do appreciate that but I do have a work of caution to students and parents reading this discussion threat. I would NOT take advice on subspecialty fellowships and research needed from high school students. Firstly medical students change their mind many times once clinical rotations so stop making choices of programs based on that. Secondly I would say to go to the best medical school within reason of cost and geography.

Got into NJMS  So happy!!!

Hey @retro22, how did they contact you? Is it by email or phone call? And did you apply through the tcnj program? Thanks

@banyen pick CWRS because its a better medical school, not for maturity. If a student is not mature enought to handle medical school after 3 years they shouldn’t go. So pick based on the medical school. Miami is however a very good medical school is would not be a bad choice.

Congrats and welcome to the NJMS family, Retro22.

@retro22 Really? Through which undergrad? Did you do multiple undergrads with NJMS? Again how did they contact you?

@banyen, if ur child has got into a good undergrad program, I would consider that over case or Miami. I know a lot of students that can’t keep the very high gap requirement of those schools. Both schools require mcat. How is it different than a traditional route! If u have to choose, I would surely pick Miami over case. Maim is a very good med school plus great weather and location.

Thanks Pharmagal. Your support for the NJMS program on cc boards is amazing.

atlmcubed275 , TheBombingRange, My D got a phone call. NJIT will be contacting via a phone call. We were told that Dr.Shevlin from TCNJ will be calling tonight and tomorrow.

@retro22 Your daughter heard through TCNJ or NJIT?

Hi Retro,

Glad if my posts help other applicants learn more about this program. Every little bit of information from those who have gone through the system helps.

Dr Shevlin tries to reach you on 1st April. The year my DS got in, he rec’d a call after 8 pm. I think Dr Shevlin starts making calls in the evening and works his way down in alphabetical order. So, those of you who have applied to TCNJ program, keep the phone nearby.

I, unfortunately, am not home right now. Any idea when Dr. Dhawan from NJIT calls? I didn’t apply through TCNJ at all, but I also applied through Stevens and Rutgers…

Thanks Pharmagal.

TheBombingRange, I am not sure if Dr.Dhawan is going to call everybody tonight. You can call the honors college tomorrow morning if you want to find out sooner.

Dr.Shevlin from TCNJ just called. So he is making phone calls. Keep the phone nearby.

@retro22 But were you called by NJIT and Dr. Dhawan or by TCNJ?

@TheBombingRange, by both.
