The one thing that is for sure, though, is that they do not give many scholarships or FA.

I am a high school Junior wanting to go the BS/MD route, what schools do you all advise I apply to , which programs give scholarship money and where do I find a link to these programs???

Where to apply depends a lot on personal preferences of location and your own research into the schools and programs. For example, if you are in Texas, you should definitely apply to the Texas programs. If you look up BS/MD programs in Google you can find a few websites that have program lists.

Just found out, that I have been accepted to the UCSD medical scholars program!

Congrats! Are you planning to go? Is UCSD a well known med school?

Just got my acceptance notification to UCSD med scholars bamd program as well. Will be giving up my seat at columbia, upenn, jhu, etc. to some deserving folks.

http://meded.ucsd.edu/groups/med-scholars/prereqs.html

The cool thing about ucsds program is that it is non binding. If you want to apply to a top med school after 4 yrs you can do so without giving up your seat at ucsd. If you get into a top med school great, if not, you still have a top15 med school as your fallback.

I know many people who have graduated from BA/BS MD programs and I never heard any talk about people not making it on to Med school. I would agree with the previous posts its rare. Plus, think about it, if a large percentage of students didn’t make it on don’t you think that info would be out there. Don’t you think peple would be posting "don’t to to so-and-so program, half of my classmates failed out. It is rare and that is why these programs suceed and continue to get so many applicants.

Hi All,
Just out of curiosity, I would like to know the stats of all those who have been accepted to NJMS 7 year BS/MD program, whether it’s with TCNJ or Rutgers or NJIT.

Do post your unweighted GPA, SAT scores (out of 2400), and SAT II scores, any ECs you were involved in.

Generally, the average scores of accepted students tend to increase over time. Just interested to see how much this increase is. Thanks folks. Good luck with the upcoming most exciting next 7 years.

Anyone here going to university of south alabama? Got into their bs/md program and will be attending.

UCSD is ranked 15. Not sure one should be worried about going to a top medical school from there. :p

I posted this before, but nobody responded:

Did anybody else besides Shoumik95 and I get into Stony Brook? Is there another Stony Brook thread that I am missing? What about a Brooklyn BA/MD thread? It seems like nobody is talking about either of these programs on CC…

hey guys,
is anyone going to the PSU-Jefferson program?

bombingrange - How many in each program? If it is in single digits, it is quite possible only the two of you are posting on CC and rest are not saying anything or don’t visit.

Has anybody got into Caltech/UCSD Medical Scholars program this year ? if so please post your stats here.

@ Desigirl21

Did your daughter not already get admission to the Caltech/UCSD combined med program last year?

Are you looking for your next child or you are just comparing this years results with your daughter’s stats?

congratulations college kd 3305 and stanford reasy! you must be so proud. Can you please post your stats . it would really help!

Having last minute anxiety attack choosing ucsd med scholars vs columbia!!! ucsd is ranked 38th, columbia is 4th. ucsd provides guaranteed 15th ranked med school, columbia provides the hope of getting into a top med school. Guaranteed vs hope. Peace of mind vs prestige. Ucsd vs columbia?? Need sage advice and the voice of reason. Anyone?

@Stanfordready
I think this is a call that you have to make. You are capable of going the Columbia route and get to a better med school after 4 years. Or you may change your mind and decide to take a better career option during your 4 years at Columbia.
If you are set to become a physician then go the UCSD route, I do not know their GPA requirements etc. You will make the requirement just as you will make the GPA/MCAT requirement if you went the Columbia route.
Do what your gut tells you as simple as that. There is no right or wrong in your two wonderful choices.
Good luck with what ever choice you make. Perhaps looking at the cost may be a way to make the decision.

California medical schools are notoriously hard to get into and I know people who did not get interviews with a 40 MCAT if they are instate at UCSD.

is the difficulty for regular admission after 4 yrs of under grad or for the combined med program kids?
