*** BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2014***

@seagreen, thank you very much!

Does anyone know for sure that Northwestern HPME has sent all interview notices or rejections? Some here are saying that these will come out for another week or two. I have not heard from them, I am nervous that it means a rejection, or at the very minimum, I am not strong enough to be invited to interview early in the process.

@fx80sam it most certainly does not mean a rejection. They give you an invite or rejection as they review them. Many people have already been rejected before others on here who have gotten an invitation.

I’ve been given the choice of Feb. 25 or 26 for interview. Has anyone received other dates that occur later?

I suspect that they are now scraping the bottom of the application barrel. My son has just got his invitation from AMC to submit his supplemental for the RPI program!

Ahhhhh IMGDAD that is wonderful!!! I think they are just behind this year because RPI was delayed in forwarding the information. My D contacted some people she knows in the program and a whole bunch of them interviewed in March so no I don’t think it’s too late for this year.

Yes they do some sort of ranking. Most people who interview get a “under consideration” which is like a pre-waitlist because they are ranking all the students as they interview them. I think from each batch they do not accept more than one or two. They had told us that it is rare to be outright accepted after the interview without going through “under consideration” first. People have even been admitted off the list past the May1 date. Not sure what they are looking for though.

Good luck!!!

@fx80sam if you read back to the previous page’s posts, HPME will be notifying of both acceptances and rejections on a rolling basis, probably until the end of the month. Two phone call confirmations deem this information pretty accurate

@seagreen What types of questions did NJMS ask?

@WelsCool Have you got any idea of when the last interview date for HPME is?

Not a one. Perhaps I will go and look at past posts to find out…

Luckily I don’t have school today, so I wasted some of my lunchtime and browsed past posts about Northwestern HPME:

-2009: 3 interviews in January, and this is what is posted: “Individual overnights will run from January 19th until March 5th next quarter.” Another said Jan 26 through March 6th. It looks like they’re 3 days a week. Interviewed over 110, accepted over 40. Decisions on March 30th.

-2010: Director of HPME supposedly said interviews began in February, notifications until end of February, so I’m assuming the interviews went into early March. Sounds like there were 3 faculty interviews, 1 lunch with current HPME students for them to feel you out. 45 admitted this year.

-2011: It seems interview notifications were sent out through the end of Feb. Interviews began Jan. 25th and went through the first week of March. 3 a week, as usual.

-2012: Interviews went from February until March 6th. Notification till mid-Feb at least.

-2013: It seems interviews went until March 8th.

Hope this helped! This new CC format doesn’t let me see dates for past years, only months, which is kind of annoying…

@zryzor - Congratulations on getting the HPME interview. I assume that is what you are referring to.

@WelsCool - Thanks for digging into it. This is very helpful and somewhat reassuring :slight_smile:
I thought I had all the right stats, activities, shadowing, research works, etc., and HPME has always been a top choice for me, and to not have heard back from them is nerve-racking, to say the least.

Also, I found out that in the old posts if you hover your mouse over the month, it displays the date and time of the post. At least that is how it works on my PC, using Explorer and Chrome, not sure about the ipad version of CC. I guess I never checked.

Way to go WelsCool - helping everyone out. My S didn’t apply there but it is so nice to see everyone helping each other out =; That’s supposed to be a high five

@IMGDAD: Congrats to your son on the RPI/AMC supplemental. Hopes he gets his interview call.

@AspiringStudent- Sorry about the Washington program! Good luck with the others.

@WeIsCool- Thanks for all the info. Just an fyi, if you hover the mouse over the month, it’ll show you the exact time and date. Edit: Sorry, just realized fx80sam said the same thing!

@IMGDAD- Congrats for getting the supplemental :slight_smile:

OK Just out of curiosity - there is this question about ranking and what these combined programs look for. You can either PM me or post here what our % rank is if you are willing to share. I thought it had to be top 2% but can someone prove me wrong?

@Midhelper- It’s different for every program. My school doesn’t rank, but from my school profile it’s clear that I’m not even in the top 5%, yet I have received interviews at 5/9 (edit: 6/10) programs that I’ve heard back from so far. I think they look more at your application as a whole than a specific ranking, but who knows. Maybe if I had been ranked higher, I would have gotten those other 4 interviews. But clearly it’s not top 2% for every program.

Just got an interview with Brooklyn/Downstate :slight_smile:

@starlight27 congrats!
did they send it just now? it seems late in the day for emails to be going out aha

@starlight27, congrats. You are obviously on a winning streak!
