@shadow522- Thanks!! And lol I just checked my email. It was sent a few hours ago.

@IMGDAD- Thank you. Yeah some of this definitely comes down to randomness, so I should consider myself lucky to get these interviews (but also I’ve been rejected from all the high-tier programs that have notified me, so I guess it’s more just semi-winning streak haha). Your son’s been doing awesome too! Congrats to him :)

Rank definitely doesnt play too much of a factor, as long as your in top 10%, it doesnt really matter what number you are after that. Im ranked at 9% but still got 5 interview invitations. Thats the one thing I learned about from this process, for the dual degree programs, is that gpa and rank is mainly just for preliminary screening and doesnt matter that much

Drexel College of Medicine has started sending interview invitations for their 4+4 programs. S received an email for their 4+4 program with Robert Morris University. The interview date is Sat, 1 March.

@bsmd14, congrats to your son and good luck. My son did not get the Drexel interview for either Robert Morris or Rosemont. He is now left with only interviews at UMKC, Texas Tech, and supplemental to AMC from RPI, and waiting for the decision from U of the Sciences.

If I have learned anything, it is that none of us truly knows what goes on behind those committee doors on any given day! Whether it be GPA, class rank, middle name, a quirky interview perception or any combination of the above…plus. How does Case pick 40 to interview out of 1700? Or NW 60 of 2000? It is what it is…subjective assessment of applicants by fellow folks(powerful ones, at that) and all the prejudice/bias and purposeful lack thereof and thus…acceptances and rejections. It is what it is and it is that simple. Best of luck to all as we approach those pending days of doom and magic ahead…

@texaspg, it is possible that age was a factor, although it is something one can only speculate. Definitely when I was up at Drexel a few months ago for business, when I told one of the leaderships in the College of Medicine that my son had applied to the BS/MD program, he was enthusiastic to begin with. However, when he learned that my son is only 15, he did tell me that Drexel was having some problems with some of the young students because those students were having problems interacting with patients, especially during the 4th year. They are, therefore, weary of accepting students who are too young. So, yes, it is possible.

More likely, however, I think it is again to do with our residency status. The Robert Morris program was set up primarily for students from PA or neighboring states. During my son’s interview at Robert Morris, he was specifically reminded that he needed to have come from PA or neighboring states for the program. The interviewers however accepted my son’s explanation that our family is relocating to PA this summer. I wonder if that information was passed on to Drexel by Robert Morris, but certainly my son did not mention this fact in his Drexel supplemental application. This is obviously an important issue because when my son was up in Robert Morris about two weeks ago for his full tuition scholarship competition luncheon, the head of the Department of Biology, the Director of the BS/MD program, sat with us at our table. He instantly remembered that we are in the process of relocating to PA. So as you can see, we are at the moment in a limbo as far as residency requirements for some of the programs are concern: We are not going to be Texas resident by July this year for my son to fulfill the residency requirement of Texas Tech, and yet we are not considered a PA resident yet because our address is still in Texas.

My son may still go to Robert Morris because he likes the campus and the small Biology Department. He has been told by LECOM that since Robert Morris also has a combined program with LECOM, he could switch his undergraduate to Robert Morris and still keep the place that has been reserved for him at LECOM. He will definitely go there if he does not get into any of the BS/MD program, especially if he gets the full tuition scholarship.

@minion17 there is an essay that you have to complete in 30 minutes. Don’t worry though it’s not a difficult essay to write and 30 minutes is plenty of time to write it.

Had my PSU/Jefferson interview last week! Anybody know when PSU/Jeff results come out? This is my top choice so I’m basically on the edge of my seat waiting for results…

@piplaula- The first admitted students day is March 17th, so we’ll defintiely find out in the next month. Everyone I asked said early March, so I don’t think there’s an exact date or anything.

Sorry to bother you guys but I plan to apply to a bunch of med programs. Can you give me as much advice as possible? I’m a junior and plan on getting a 2200 on my SAT and a 33-35 on my ACT. I haven’t taken any sat 2 exams yet. I might take the biology one. I also volunteer at the children hospital and plan to shadow a neurosurgeon in the summer. My weighted average is a 3.8 and I’m in the medical research club. I also took a year of biology research at my school in which we worked with C Ferns and Aribidopsis Thaliana. I really am looking at getting into Upenn/Jeff, Brown PLME, Sophie Davis, the program at USF and university of Miami, and many other programs. Can you give me advice and tell me what to do the next couple of months to maximize my chances? Thank you guys so much.

@mbarsoum please start another thread so that we are not wasting space here talking about how to help you. We are here to talk about bs/md interviews. We can help u, just please start a new thread

@piplaula - from last year’s thread, i’m estimating that we’re roughly get it exactly a month after our interview date so yeah early march. i think last year it came through snail mail but not sure about this year.

anyone think northwestern is still sending out interviews? :(
