My son’s interview at UMKC is on this coming Monday (Feb 24). How many days does the interview go on for? Four consecutive days?

Thanks @shimmeringaway. I guess we may get to hear from @IMGDAD on Monday night! I am not sure for how many days the interviews go on. Good luck to all of you too.

Just got notified that I got a NU HPME interview!!! Is anyone on here interviewing on the 26th or in March? I’m going to see if I can go in March. I didn’t even get an interview call from BU SMED, so it just goes to show that you never know! I thought I had no chance at all of getting an interview. Anybody have tips on what the process is like, what sorts of questions, etc.?

@WelsCool Where do you live? Did you get offered a Feb.27 date?

@WelsCool, congrats for getting one of the crown jewells of BS/MD programs!

@zryzor, I got offered Feb. 27th, but I am coming the 26th. I’m from the upper Midwest, but 2-3 states west of Illinois.

And @IMGDAD, thank you very much!

Congratulations @Zryzor and @WeIsCool on getting the HPME interview invites.

I am still waiting on any news from HPME, good or bad, so perhaps there is still hope for an interview. :-/

@MidHelper yes it is a combined program with SUNY Upstate medical school. The application was due January 1st.

Congrats to everyone who received the new invitations for interviews at the various programs!

Took a break so as not to depress folks with the string of rejections we got (10 in a row! Is that a record?) …but can now report an invitation to interview for RPI/AMC. Again, thank you to everyone for their advice regarding traveling in March so as to avoid costly flight change fees.

If anyone has advice regarding the upcoming interview, we would appreciate it. As mentioned before, interviewing is not a strength here…All the best to everyone!

@WeIsCool- CONGRATS!! That’s amazing-- good luck at your interview!!

@SLCMom- I’m sorry about the rejections. Congrats on RPI/AMC though! You only need one out of all the ones you applied to, so hopefully she’ll get into this one and the others (Miami HPME and DAP, right?). :D

@starlight27
Thanks! Yes, we’ll keep fingers crossed. And for you too!

Hey guys is anybopy going for the 25th interview at HPME? Does anybody have advice??

@FrozenShardz do you mean the 26th? I only got the options of 26, 27, or 28, and I’m going the 26th. If you are going the 26th, then I guess I’ll see you there!

As for advice… be yourself I guess? Know why you want to go into medicine, for sure! Dress the part and be professional in appearance and actions. If anyone else has interview advice, I would also love to hear it!

My son got RPI/AMC interview notification today, so for those waiting they are still sending the invites. Still waiting to hear from UIC GPPA (Honors College acceptance received on Tuesday) and Brown PLME (alumni interview couple months ago). UM HPME results will be send April 1.

@DoctorBarguz- Congrats to your S on AMC! I think Brown just notifies with the normal admissions decision (I think ivy day this year is March 27th), as there is no program interview. Good luck. :)

DoctorBarguz - congratulations on AMC invite - which day you going?

Thanks, Midhelper and Starlight27, I will be there on 3/24

Sooooo over the past week I’ve been at 2 interviews: Drexel and NJMS

Drexel:
Yes there was an essay but it wasn’t too bad. It was just something like an everyday problem and your decsion towards it. My interview itself wasn’t hard. It was just a conversation and I felt I conveyed everything I needed to. The school itself was okay but the cafeteria was wayyyy to small.

NJMS:
Schedule of the day was interview, tour, and lunch. Interview was a typical conversation and lasted an hour. Overall, very informal. We didn’t cover much in the tour but the tour guides seemed happy with their decsion. They did not come from any of the accelerated programs so their perspective might be different. Lunch was average but I was surprised to find there was a burger king …in a med school. Hmmm

Anyway, busy week and I have my AMC interview left which I heard was really hard.

I didn’t hear from U Conn yet so I kinda gave up on it. I know Stony Brook notifies late so still waiting on that.

Other than that, I’m pretty much done and it feels good to make some progress.

I believe Jefferson notifies first but does anyone have an exact date for that? I know it is before March 17th.

MedicalBoy where did you hear AMC interviews were hard?

Some people at my Drexel interview told me that one of the interviewers asked them about a biology question about a specific type of gram staining. I think that was just one interviewer but did anyone else have the interview and can share their experience?

Also searching from past posts, some people stated that there were some difficult ethical situations presented and you had to make a decsion. I think it is just done to see how you react to an unexpected situation during an interview. I doubt they would expect a high school student to make a decsion about a complex ethical situation. I mean most people learn about comprehensive medical ethics in medical school…
