*** BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2014***

No it is the 5th!

@coquifrog How do you know it’s the 5th?

friend got invited!

@coquifrog ahh, I see. But how do you know the last date is the 5th? Did your friend tell you?

“Regular decision applicants to Northwestern will receive their admission decision by the last week of March.”
http://www.ugadm.northwestern.edu/

They need to wrap it up soon if they are going to be able to announce 3 weeks later.

Do not know if the last date is the 5th! I meant it does not end on the 4th as some were saying, that there is an additional interview day on the 5th that my friend is going to!

Ok so if someone said that interviews end on the 4th, and somebody definitely got an interview for the 5th, then whoever said that the 4th was the last day is definitely wrong. So they might be extending interviews into the 2nd week of March. we just don’t know. Also, @texaspg, I think that turnaround after interviews does not take that long. Penn State does it in 3 weeks, Rice does it in a week, and Stony Brook in a similar time frame. Their website says that student’s are “invited to interview in February-March” (note: invited, so we may even be notified in March) and they release decisions on April 1st, so maybe we shouldn’t write it off just yet.

I called Northwestern HPME this morning but no one is picking up, maybe they are busy trying to get through all the applications soon. Last year they sent out invites for interviews in March so I think we should not conclude that we didn’t get the interview unless we receive an email from them.

as anybody been invited to submit the Rice-Baylor supplemental?

They sent interview notices in March last yr?

“as anybody been invited to submit the Rice-Baylor supplemental?”

Don’t you submit that by December 1st?

@texaspg, I think one needs to fill a supplemental app if you are short listed; this in turn will be reviewed by the Baylor medical college and decide whether to extend an interview invite or not? I might be wrong in understanding the process.

@med007 - I am not aware of this step. The process normally is that Rice admits the student first at which point they tell the student whether an interview is being offered. Your app is considered filed when the essays were turned in for Baylor.

@texaspg - I think you are right. This is what I got from the FAQ that confirms what you just explained:

What is the acceptance rate into the Rice/Baylor program?
Last year, 1,469 Rice applicants expressed an interest in the Rice/Baylor Medical Scholars Program; 307 applicants were admitted and given the opportunity to compete for admission to the Medical Scholars Program. Forty-five of those students were selected as finalists and invited to interview with Baylor College of Medicine. After the interviews, 15 were offered admission to the Rice/Baylor Medical Scholars Program and 10 students enrolled in the fall 2013.

The explanation is not very clear but the way I understand it works is that they have decided who to admit and passed on those applications to Baylor at some point who in turn are ready to announce who is being interviewed within days of Rice announcing admissions. I know of people who have applied ED who had already been eliminated when they were deferred.

Hey did anyone hear from Stony Brook? Just wondering cause someone said before they interview in March… and it’s almost March…

@CAJ2014- I haven’t heard yet. Last year this was the timeline for Stony Brook:
3/11-3/14: admitted to honors college
3/14- application passed on to medical school
3/28: interview
4/1- accepted
So very clearly that’s not the case. The only thing you should have heard from them at this point is that you were accepted into the regular ug.

Edit: Totally did not realize this was in the results thread. Sorry for the post here. We should really try to keep this thread for results ONLY and post all other questions in the interview notification or official bs/md thread.

As to HPME, I was notified last Friday, interviewed on Wednesday. They only gave me choices of Wed, Thursday, Fri, even when I called asking for a later date. So it is totally possible for you only getting 3 business days notice for an interview. Don’t lose hope!

That is so reassuring thank you :)

my best pal interviewed at UNION/AMC on Monday 2/24 and ACCEPTED yesterday 2/27/14. Congrats to him…he is NOT a CC’er but I hope to get him to offer some stats.

Wow a February acceptance…best of luck to him. :)>- =D> =D>
