Is there a chance that UT-PACT results will be out on Friday 21st

Anyone else here back from Brooklyn BA/MD?

@collegekid29-- Did you hear back already? I haven’t heard from them. I will definitely post when I do.

@starlight27 Nope. Haven’t heard back. They said one week from the interview. Very anxious. I will too.

Thanks Midhelper and texaspg for the response.

Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted to BS/MD programs.
My S did not get into any of the BS/MD programs. He’s had a much better luck with his pre-med track.
Got into
USC Viterbi Biengineering + pre-med
Michigan Bioengineering
UCSD Jacobs Bioengineering (bioinformatics) + premed
He is waiting to hear from a few more schools. Currently weighing between USC/UCSD.

@BiomedFather, sorry about the rejections but congrats on the offers for Bioengineering from some top Bioengineering programs in this country.

Congrats @BiomedFather sounds like the alternative options for your S are top notch. Bioengineering undergrad in medschool will probably give him an edge. He might even want to do a gap year and work for one year before medschool. I hear that those who do productive gap years tend to do better socially and maturity wise. OK I have no data to back that up - just what I read from those who did that on Student Doctor Network.

@slcmom

Would you post the details of the interview letter or the whole letter? Because we only have been confirmed the interview date and time, No other info regarding the interview agenda as orientation time and location, direction to get into AMC . Do you knoe how earlier the AMC send the interviewee for interview letter / a week or 2 weeks before interview?

@asianmay38
Just posted as you requested in the other thread, please check it there and feel free to send additional questions. I also reported on our trip a few days ago (I assume you saw that). Best of luck!

@slcmom

According to your info AMC already send the first batch for acceptance to 15 people. For the worst senario, if all these 15 all agree to come and the the game is over. For all these interviewees have been interviewed in later days however they will have either slim or no chance to get in. Do you ask this question to AMC when you was there?
This is ridiculous. My daughter is currently in bs/md case western ppsp 8 years combined program. Case runs the interview process very well and fair.

@asianmay38
I am sure all of us there had similar thoughts running through our heads, and @IMGDAD has also pointed out it seems a little unfair to later interviewees. However, AMC said they would admit 30 to 40 because past statistics tell them that they need to admit that many to get up to 15 enrollees. So we can hope that AMC would offer at least another 15 admissions to the later interviewees. Last year they didn’t even get 15 enrollees for RPI/AMC - I think it is 13. So we can also hope that they would offer 40 not just 30 admissions, hence maybe 25 for the later batch. It is possible that the earlier batch has - and dare I say maybe even prefer - other options and we could also hope these students would be kind enough to let AMC know if they are not planning to take a spot, when AMC calls them to ask, so there would be more offers for the later batch. I know…a whole lot of hoping, but that seems to be a hallmark of this process, if not a requirement, just to stay in and stay sane, no? Congrats to your daughter for being in Case Western PPSP and good luck to her sibling in the current process!

I am assuming that some pre-screening is going on and the more competitive applicants are invited for an interview first and so it makes sense that if all 15 accept then they are full - they would’ve accepted their top 15 choices. This makes sense to me and in no way do I see this as being unfair.

Also remember that the interviews are only a percentage of the score for admissions - how much? I don’t know and this is where things could get unfair but I’m thinking on paper, the strongest were invited first.

@asianmay38 if you want instructions how to get there etc. This information can be found in the side bar when you log in to get your supplement information or where you accepted interview. You can still access it.

Good luck!!

@lMGDAD
slcmom–You didn’t answer my question correctly. I’m asking how earlier you got the interview letter before interview.
And which building in AMC , you guys met for orinetation. I would like to know advance. If IMGDAD CAN CONTRIBUTE YOUR INFO AND I WILL GREATLY APPRECATE.

@asianmay38, my son was NOT invited for the interview. I am, therefore, not in the position to provide any info to you. What I posted was just my opinion.

@bsmdin2014

I don’t think i am able to answer your quesion. Because my daughter got interview for a few years ago and it was only one day interview. She did have conflict with Rochester ( BS/MD-REMS) interview so she only went case ppsp interview.
She never applied any AMC combined program so I keep asking parents regarding rpi/amc questions. Anyone knows anything related to RPI/AMC interview info. Please put your feedback.

@asianmay38
Sorry if I still don’t understand your question, but from what I remember, the invitation to come for an interview directs you to go to the AMC website to select an interview date. Don’t know about others, but we were given 3 choices of dates so they vary in terms of how far apart each interview date is from the invitation to interview. Probably the earliest is less than 2 weeks since the airfare was rather expensive.

As for which building to meet for orientation, it is building R, as stated in the interview letter I posted in the other thread you started. Just to be clear I will copy the same post here, please look at paragraph 4:

Congrats on receiving an interview invitation! it is not snailmail or even email, you need to go into the AMC web site to see it. it is the same place you went in to select the interview date. There are lots more useful information (hotels, directions, visiting RPI, etc.) there - for example, the Hilton Garden Inn link from the hotel link gives you the discounted rate for AMC. The letter we downloaded from the website is posted below, to give you an idea: note that the start time is different for Monday versus Friday.

Dear STUDENT:

We are pleased to tell you that you have been selected to interview at the Albany
Medical College for the Accelerated Physician-Scientist Program offered conjointly with
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

You have been scheduled to come to our campus to interview on:
Date: Arrival Time:

From January through March, approximately 80 applicants will be interviewed for
this program. Because of critical scheduling logistics, we have very limited availability of
interview dates and times. To ensure that you have the best chance of getting a
convenient date, we ask that you log onto the Response Form (located on the left
side tool bar) and select your interview date within one week of the date of this
email. If this is not possible, please call our office, (518) 262-5529, to schedule a
mutually convenient time. We interview on Monday mornings and Friday afternoons. If
you will be accompanied by your family, kindly limit the size of the group to two adults.

When you arrive at the Albany Medical College, please come directly to the
Admissions Office. We are located on the first floor of the Administration Building (R) in
Room 109. The interview day program consists of four parts: orientation session, lunch
for applicants, tours, and an interview. Parents are invited to attend the orientation
program and tour. At any time, parents may purchase lunch or refreshments in our
cafeteria. Please plan to spend approximately five (5) hours at Albany Medical College.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute welcomes you to visit our campus before or after
your interview with Albany Medical Center. Following a Monday morning interview at
AMC , we can offer you a tour from 2:00 PM-3:15 PM. If you have any additional
questions, you are more than welcome to sit down with one of our counselors during
your visit. Prior to a Friday afternoon AMC interview, we can offer you an information
session from 9:00 AM-10:00 AM. This is a general information session regarding
undergraduate studies and the application process at Rensselaer and is not specific to
the accelerated medical program. These sessions and tours are scheduled to allow
sufficient travel time between Rensselaer Polytechnic and Albany Medical College. If you
plan to visit, please go to
http://www.rpi.edu/dept/admissions/visitrpi/schedule_visit.html and write AMC in the
question box. Directions to RPI are available at
http://www.rpi.edu/virtual_tour/travel.html .

Information and web links are provided on the left tool bar to assist you with your
travel plans.

We look forward to meeting you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to
contact this office.

Sincerely,
Donald D. Pritchett, Jr. , M.S., J.D.
Director of Admissions and Student Records

@asianmay38
One more note: as AMC is winding down interviews I don’t think you should presume on the same number or flexibility of date choices. As I reported earlier, they only interview Mondays and Fridays and the last one will be on March 31, and if slots are filled up I don’t know about their ability to squeeze additional interviewees into a day.

@asianmay38
In case it is still not clear, the building is building R, room 109, that’s where you start with the orientation session. I really encourage you to go to the AMC website (not the general medical school website, the applicant portal where you have to log in).

@SLCMOM

The answer is very clear. According to the the source from parents, AMC interviews the stduents according to the completion of all application forms. First comes, first serves but under the conditon that application forms need to be completed without any missing ones as sat score, teacher recommendation. If student submitted with incompleted pachage, Admission Office ( Union, Sienna and RPI) waits until all come together then forward the strong candidates to AMC.
In another words if you submit late or have missing documents that will delay your interview till the later date. It is the case for my son because his SAT score was missing ( we have to resubmitted again) so his interview is scheduled so late. Not the last day but close to.

Thank you SLCMOM. You are a such wonderful person to help out.
