*** BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2014***

@asianmay38
You’re most welcome and again best of luck to your son!

Does anyone know when we will hear back from the RMU/Drexel program?

@FrozenShardz I sent the common application on 1/20 and the final essay on 2/1.

Anyone know when NU HMPE decisions come out?

Did anyone apply to Stony Brook? If you did, please keep us posted on when you get an interview offer!

@1268623 - congratulations that you are asking this question - I wish I was :frowning: Can you tell us a bit more about how the interviews went this year.
@schauffhausen - still waiting for Stony Brook. Today, I received in mail a post card to attend some kind of function held by WISE at Stony Brook, but no word about Honors College acceptance/rejection or interview acceptance/rejection.

@hickorydoc, I got an acceptance into the Honors college last week along with notification my application was forwarded. I hope to expect an interview notification next week…hopefully

@Schauffhausen - Good luck to you. Please let us know when you hear back. I am probably on some kind of wait list - neither rejected nor accepted to Honors College.

@hickorydoc thank you.

Can someone give a review of their experience at their NJMS interview?

@1268623 The website says the come out April first.

I can tell you that the HC won’t be waitlisting students this year- there were 11,000 applicants, 350 accepted, all for a class of 90.

@Schauffhausen Are you going through Scholars for Medicine or Engineering Scholars for Medicine?

hey, guys, just ask; is this normally?
a kids with 2380 SAT, top 3% of class, take hardest courses… not getting into Case Western undergraduate?
I would think something in the application is seriously wrong, maybe something very unusual in the letter of recommendation? She is really worried not that she would not get into any decent school, if case waitlisted her.
Appreciate your input.

Correction: She is really worried not getting into any decent school if she can not even get into case, it was her safety.

its all about whether or not the school thinks she’s the right fit. i wouldn’t worry too much at this point. personally, i was surprised to get waitlisted at wustl, for example, when other more highly esteemed undergraduate programs and bs/MD programs invited to interview and accepted me. like starlight27 has said many times, some of the process is quite random, in our opinions anyways.

Just got back from Villanova Early Action Admitted students day. We attended the health advising session which discussed the BS/MD program. There were current students talking about the program and their experience. The advisor said that Drexel has notified them of their selections and letters just went out from Villanova for BS/MD. I would imagine that Drexel notified all affiliated schools but the advisor did not know that. Good luck to everyone waiting to hear from Drexel.

@arsh96 neither. Dental. But there are no active dental forums so this is the closest thing.

@clas1417 did your child apply for the PPSP program and not be accepted? Sometimes schools do not accept students rejected from their BS/MD programs, because they are worried about their yield and about students only being interested in their school for that program.
Other factors include extracurriculars, leadership positions/potential, academic promise, perceived passion about academics, perceived interest in their school, personality and fit (through essays, rec letters), etc. Every school is different! Something that also might have happened which occasionally (sadly) happens is that schools, to protect their yield, don’t admit the top-top students because they know they are only a safe school, and that the particular student will likely get into a much higher ranked school (Ivy-level or otherwise) and not enroll in their own school. The admissions process is one of the world’s greatest mysteries!

@class1417 Did she apply for PPSP? if yes, it is possible that Case Counselor may think that she applied mainly for PPSP. My son applied for PPSP, did not get invited for interview, and is waitlisted for undergraduate. I was kind of surprised and disappointed. However, in any case he was not going to attend CWRU for just undergraduate. I am confident that you daughter will have better options to choose than CWRU for undergraduate.
