BS vs. BM in music industry

the title pretty much says it all. i want to apply to USC and i was wondering what the difference was between a BS and a BM in music industry?

I assume you are talking about the University of Southern California and not the University of South Carolina.

I doubt that there is much difference between the BM and the BS in music, but usually music degrees which are highly concentrated in music and performance are BM degrees, not very many schools offer a BS in music. Many colleges offer a BA in music, that usually means that the degree is not as concentrated in music and offers lots of opportunity to study in fields outside of music. Some colleges offer a BFA in music, which would be very similar to a BM in music.

You should really look up the curriculum online for the degrees that you are interested in, maybe even print them out or make a spread sheet so that you can directly compare the differences in curriculums.

It’s a BM at USC if you’re good enough to seek a degree in performance and a BS if not. Look at the Thornton Web site: [USC Thornton School of Music : Academic Programs: Music Industry](http://www.usc.edu/schools/music/programs/industry/)
