Can anyone recommend a BS with strong creative writing and/or visual arts programs? I’m not looking for specialized schools like Interlochen or Walnut Hill, but for a generalist school like Choate, which has Arts Concentration programs. I would particularly appreciate responses from the students/parents who have attended one of those schools. Thanks.

PS: Perhaps this might have been answered somewhere… if so forgive me for being lazy/inept in searching techniques and post the link.

I hear concord academy, middlesex, and milton have good writing programs. I don’t know much about their visual arts programs, may be CA is good.

Paul Watkins (aka Sam Eastland) is writer-in-residence at Peddie and author of maybe fifteen books or so. He teaches creative writing as well as history. The visual arts program is headed by his wife, Cathy Watkins, and has other fine teachers as well. Generous funding for the arts is available at this well-endowed school, and the proximity to Princeton, Philadelphia and New York is taken advantage of for artistic opportunities.
