Hello,

I’m a junior in Electrical Engineering and I’ve decided that after I receive my Bachelor’s, I want to go to grad school for a Masters in Biomedical Engineering. Most graduate programs prereqs for biology, chemistry, etc. I’m on the fence about the premed track and general track because if I choose the premed track, I will not have to take Thermodynamics, a Tech elective lab or Electromagnetic Energy Conversion Lab (already took lecture) and I worry that it may hurt me in the long run. For the premed track, I would have to take general chem, biology, organic chem 1 and 2.

Choosing the premed track will help fulfill all or most of the prereqs for grad school but I’m unsure if I want to go to med school in the future. However, if I talk to someone who has taken that route and/or take a few life science courses, I will have a better idea of what I want to do.

I believe that if I stay on the general track, I will have to fulfill the prereqs before i enter the graduate program. I guess its just the matter of now or later.

Will not taking those courses on the general track hurt me if I choose premed?

Your input will be appreciated.
