How do these compare?

I would post this on the Parents Forum. You are more likely to get answers. There are some knowledgeable people there.

they don’t. COM owns newhouse.

… well, that’s the answer i’d like to give. but really, they’re both good enough that it just depends on how the individual makes use of the opportunities.

the one fact i can give is… newhouse is in the middle of nowhere compared to COM in boston. boston has a lot more internships and major companies nearby. and in a major city, there’s a lot more events to write about, speak about, photograph, and film. and that’s what communications is all about.

I completely agree with nathansc. However, I would suggest really looking into what classes you need to take for each and figuring out what is best for you. I can tell you that I went to a summer program at Syracuse for 6 weeks before my senior year, and I was bored by week four. I’m sure there is more to do during the year, but Syracuse is not the nicest of cities, whereas at BU you have the entire city of Boston. Newhouse is an excellent school, though, so I’d think about what you really want and see which school gives you that.

Syracuse’s brutal weather makes winter in Boston seem like Jamaica!
