BU Transfer Students

Does anyone know a more exact time around BU will be letting transfer students know their decision for the Fall 2010?

hahhaha good, I made a topic about this a few hours ago- an nobody replied (>_<), but now I feel better in knowing that another transfer did not get notified yet.

I always thought we would get notified April 1st because that's what Collegeboard says, but who knows. I have heard Monday from other people as well.

Haha sorry I completely missed it. I really hope it's either one of those. I feel like it's much later than that because the deadline is April first, and even though I applied a month ago, I feel like they wouldn't let us know so early. I can't take waiting anymore.

That would make sense, but when exactly do they have time to review the applications...? Don't we have to accept by May 1st or is that just for Freshman?

I sent my application on March 1st, so hopefully they actually look at our applications since we sent them early. I have a feeling all those people who sent then now, will be glanced over and tossed if they do not meet the smallest of detail.

I wonder if we are the only transfers in this forum.

I am applying to the School of Education, what about you?

It doesn't seem like there are any other transfers haha. I applied to CAS for French. I got into BU when I was applying as a freshmen last year, but I didn't end up going: long story. For some reason, I feel like the criteria for getting accepted to BU as a transfer is much harder. I hope that isn't true though. What are you majoring in?

Bilingual Education :)

Transfer Students admission decisions mailed and available online on students' BU Web Accounts MID-MAY to MID-JUNE. I applied as a transfer to SHA.

Mid-May to Mid-June?

That sucks, because most of my schools require a decision by May 1st. So, i guess this means i write off BU?

that's what I was thinking, that is a pretty long time. That would mean I would either have to accept another school and forget BU or take my chances with getting accepted and go with BU.

Do the schools you're applying to have the option of refunding your deposit if later accepted at BU? Just something to look into...

There's that, and also I have to put my deposit down if I'm still attending my current school by June I'm very sure. It would really be so much easier to just hear from them a little earlier.

When is the BU deposit due? It's so unreasonable to give a response mid-may to mid-june when most colleges require their deposits by May.

@scribistan: It depends on the school. Northeastern asks for their deposits by May 1st, I believe, and you can get a percentage of your refund depending on how long after you withdraw.

mgm91- Are you sure the same goes for for transfer students? I believe the application deadline for transfers at Northeastern isn't even until May 1st. Schools expecting deposits so early from transfers just seems a little off to me...

I was accepted to Northeastern as a transfer, the deadline is May 1st.

Yeah, I know. Trust me, I feel the same exact way. We transfer students get our decisions so late and do not get enough time to respond. I was accepted to Northeastern too, and they're asking for their deposit by May 1st. I spoke to someone at BU admissions and they suggested asking Northeastern for a extension, but its not like I can ask them for an extra month and a half. As for BU, their deposit is due 2 weeks after you get accepted, but you can ask for an extension (one week) if you need more time.

I called the officer earlier today, and they said that the decisions are going out on a rolling basis, but they tend to start doing them in mid-May.

Oh thats so great! I sent my app back in January. Thank you for the information!

I applied but they seem to send you the letter from may-the end of June

Eeks, I sent in my app the 29th of March, hope I won't be waiting until June for a decision! =/

What majors are you guys applying for? Does anyone know how many transfer students BU generally accepts?

collegeboard says 753 out of 2,386. 247 out of 753 actually enrolled. not sure how recent those numbers are.
