Bucknell Factoids

Just some interesting things I’ve come across the last few days:

Bucknell placed 10th in the William Lowell Putnam Math Competition. The last time a small LAC placed in the top 10 was in 1972 when Oberlin placed second.

Bucknell’s LAX team is 4-0 in Patriot League play, and ranked 15th nationally.

Bucknell was ranked 12th nationally by the Institute of International Education for total number of students studying abroad.

Bucknell men’s and women’s soccer teams were awarded the NSCAA academic award for the 2003-04 season. They are one of 53 schools to have both the men’s and the women’s team win, and one of 20 schools to win the award three years in a row. The women’s team had the highest average GPA in the Patriot League with a 3.37.

Bucknell hosted the Pennsylvannia Confederation of College Democrats this past weekend, 85 students from 27 PA Universities attended to elect new state College Democrat leaders.

12 Bands played at House Party Weekend. :)

t-t-mom - did the deans man the hot dog and hamburger grills again this year at HP weekend??

son is not sure, he didn’t get back from the debate tourney until later in the day. In time for the bands though! According to a quote from Dean Ferraro in the Bucknellian " an overwhelming majority of the students acted appropriately"

i’ve got a fun little fact…In december I went to the Titanic exhibit at the Franklin Institute in Philly…Mr. Bucknell’s (I think his name was John) widow was on the Titanic and survived…

oooh I didn’t know that!

Ray Bucknell! It’s Ray. You’re supposed to say Ray Bucknell right before you enter the campus for good luck. :)

Also from the April 15th Bucknellian:

“College Democrats host convention of 27 chapters.”

“The Bucknell College Democrats were awarded Chapter of the Year. The club was honored for being particularly active, increasing its membership, putting out the publication All That’s Left and for registering more than 400 Lewisburg residents to vote in the 2004 presidential election.”
