I want the traditional college experience, with a beautiful campus, sporting events, a social life, but along with rigorous academics. Opinions please!!

If you choose Bucknell and apply ED 1 you will likely be accepted as they take a very high percentage ED compared with Colgate and Lehigh. The 4 schools are all rural and hard to fly into without a 2-4 hour drive from any major airport serviced from California. Colgate is probably the best academically and the most beautiful campus of the four, although Lehigh and Bucknell are strong in some areas and offer engineering. SLU is significantly easier to get into so prob could decide ED II or RD there. If you can’t visit meet regional alumni and look at videos on you tube to get a sense of the campuses and students.

Colgate is served by SYR, Syracuse Airport, which is drive of less than an hour. Flights from several California airports would connect to Syracuse via hubs such as Chicago. California is the third or fourth largest state in terms of Colgate student numbers. Of course you will be best served by reviewing [Admission and Financial Aid Information for Colgate University](Admission & Aid | Colgate University) and visiting to establish your “fit”, as nervedoctor has suggested. Further, admission to Colgate is most competitive and so attending to all aspect of your application, not to mention making a clear determination whether ED is a smart choice for you, is vital.

Good luck with your search!

Lehigh is not rural. It’s in the suburbs of Allentown, and it’s an hour from Philadelphia, an hour from Newark and an hour and a half from New York.
