Bucks County boy, math whiz, admitted early to Harvard

Wow. He’s probably going to enroll in Math 55 when he gets to Harvard.

Maybe he’ll be a Math 55 teaching assistant!

Haha exactly.

these little articles are nice… it’s kinda like getting to know my future classmates.

Seems like a strong math student. Harvard is the place for him–he will love it.

He will have to choose when he gets to Harvard-- as the students say–25 and happiness/55 and glory! (When my S decided on Harvard over UChi he told the Prof Sally of his decision-- Sally said that if he was going to Harvard to do 55 over coming to study with him, that was alright-- but that he was “insane.” With a smile/smirk on his face…at the time my S didn’t quite know what to think about his comment and expression–now after a semester of 55 he knows  )

For many of the kids in 25 it isn’t a matter of candle power that prevents them from 55-- but that they don’t want to do 40 hours a week in problem sets–Last year almost 80 started the Fall but 17 remained at the end-- and 2 or 3 of those have decided not to do the Spring. For some it was not having a strong enough background in proofs or love of abstractions, but for many it was a “life style” choice.

What is certain is whatever he chooses, he will have the chance to go as far as he wants and is able–and with many kids from around the world who come specifically to do math at Harvard, so they can work with the best math undergrads in the nation.
