I have my preferences set up to be notified when someone mentions me. When someone does using the @ sign it works just fine. However, if someone quotes me and does the shortcut format of quote=ClaremontMom (i.e. no @ sign) I don’t get notified. Is this by design (why?) or is it a bug (can we get that fixed?).

I don’t think it was ever intended that you would get notified if you’re quoted like that - it’s just for attribution purposes. The @ sign is the only way you’ll be notified.
I think people use it though to quote someone and respond…it would be nice to know someone is responding to you in case you’d like to respond back. I usually catch it on my own just because I’m following a thread. However, if the thread is long when I get back I might just glance right over it.
I wonder if people know that when they use it the author is NOT getting notified, since often times it is a direct response and they may be hoping to get a reply back.
