I’m looking for recommendations on bug zappers or any other tried and true way of getting rid of mosquitos and gnats. Seems this summer has been the worst! We have trouble sitting outside for even a few minutes without getting eaten up by the bugs. Grrrr…
Zappers do NOT work. They kill lots of bugs that are, like, moths and others attracted to light. But mosquitoes are attracted to CO2. What we exhale. So all you’d be doing is killing non-mosquitoes. I do believe there are some CO2 emitter types of machines out there though.
I wear a mosquito repellent bracelet that is pending FDA approval for widespread sale. It works great and I have never gotten a bite at all while wearing it. I do not have gnats that bite, so no ideas about that. I wrote to the inventor to see if it’s available for purchase yet–will let you know when I get a reply.
