Building a list of colleges for my son to research (rising sophomore - Theatre, History, Tap, Fencing)

Thanks so much for all of your recommendations! You’ve given me several to add to our list. It didn’t look like Villanova had an undergraduate theatre major - just a minor and then a master’s program. I thought that was interesting. University of Michigan is a bit big for his current range but I made a note of it in case he decides that larger schools are OK. I really appreciate all your work on finding these schools!

Sacred Heart looks really interesting! It was on my daughter’s list initially but we only had time to drive through the campus when she was looking and couldn’t do a tour. I recall that the campus looked great and that they were doing housing renovations at the time so I bet the dorms look pretty good now too.

Wesleyan University (3,000 students) has a pretty eclectic theater program (B.A.) and community and a brand-new dance rehearsal, arts lab, and outdoor performance center will be open by the time your son graduates high school:

Wesleyan is the sort of place that values musicality in all forms and I can foresee your son’s various skills finding a lot of places for collaboration. Lin-Manuel Miranda 02 and Thomas Kail 99 discovered each other there despite the fact that they were three class years apart - and the fact that Kail was a History major.

Below is a sample of the past academic year’s theatrical offerings:

The Wesleyan Argus | “Oh, Muffy!”: Laughing Our Way Through Worst-Case Scenarios and Prompting Important Conversations About White Supremacy and Virtue Signaling

The Wesleyan Argus | Spike Tape’s “Gloria” by Branden Jacob-Jenkins Allows Audiences To Reflect on How We Care for Each Other

The Wesleyan Argus | Noisy Visuals’ “Pippin” Combines Musical Theater and Film to Create an Unforgettable and Spectacular Production
