"Bulb Market"

Today in AP Physics Lab, we had a fun discussion about an electric current puzzle called “Bulb Market.” Here it is… you can post you responses. How would you approach and complete your solution?

Houses, boats and cars have electric systems based on 120 V, 24 V, and 12 V respectively. Let’s say we have a 60 watt bulb from each, and enough adapters to plug any bulb into any system. Which combination of bulb and system would give the most light? Which would give the least?

This “fun discussion” is actually your graded lab report that you are trying to cheat on.

We didn’t really do a lab today. We did some practice problems on our textbook (GIANCOLI)'s website. And we don’t have a lab report.

Ok w/e, it’s your extra credit assignment, homework, w/e…I haven’t had physics anyways.

The resistance of the bulb is constant, and it can be found by P = IV and V=IR where P = watts, I = Amps (C/s) and R = ohms (resistance). you can find that P=V^2/R. The greater the power, the brighter the bulb, unless it gets too much power and breaks.
