Business Casual Denim

Hey all, DH needs a pair of jeans for business. Issue is, he’s 6 ft 6in and about 240ish. He doesn’t normally wear jeans, but he’s about a 42 W, 36 inseam. S19 was a huge help in showing his dad what he should be looking for, but we can’t find a brand that has DH’s size.
Any suggestions?

Nordstrom

Banana Republic carries a 42x36 in jeans. They are ferociously expensive; I highly recommend combining sales and cardholder discounts.

Old Navy also has 42x36, but I think they are probably more casual casual than what you’re looking for.

I don’t know if any of these are the style that he’s looking for but I’ve always had good luck finding jeans at JCPenney for my guys.

Levi’s Big & Tall.

If they are for work I’d do the Banana Republic. Considering how much men had to pay for what they used to wear: suits, they are a bargain. But you can get a discount by opening an account

Please make it dark denim.

In my world, business casual means don’t wear jeans.

Thanks @allyphoe I didn’t initially see the tab for Big & Tall at Banana Republic.
Unfortunately, he was told specifically “no levis”.

“In my world, business casual means don’t wear jeans.”

That was true at my law firm until about two years ago. Now jeans are standard and made “ business casual “ with the addition of button down high quality shirts and nice shoes for men. For women, jeans are often accompanied by a sweater type blazer or a dressy top. Also nice shoes.

@roethlisburger I know!! When DH told me he needed jeans I was very perplexed! This is a super casual company though, so I shouldn’t have been that surprised.

Why is there a specific regulation on brand, rather than type? Are there other brands specifically not allowed?

What non-jeans trousers also fall under this employer’s definition of “business casual”? Perhaps considering those options that can increase the choices that he has.

@ucbalumnus I have no idea. I’m just following what I’m told. LOL
Hugo Boss is ok, but they don’t carry my husband’s size.

Here is a web site that claims to help for unusual inseam lengths:

Of course, trying out the jeans for fit may be difficult if the desired size is not commonly stocked in stores. But perhaps they can be tried for non-length fit at least before mail ordering off the web.

Holy Crud!! My S19 is very much a Hollister/J Crew/Nike/UA comfort dresser… so those are the brands I know best for guys. 7 for all mankind is a shock to the system.
Wow… gonna keep looking.

Costco carries Lucky jeans and calvins. They will usually have more big than small sizes. They occasionally do even have 7 for all mankind LOL.

Ding Ding Ding. I think we may have a winner. https://www.luckybrand.com/181-relaxed-straight-jean/7M12277.html?dwvar_7M12277_color=410&cgid=m-jeans-all-jeans
He’s buying a couple Banana Republic & a couple Lucky to see which fits best.

Lands End may have options.

I live in rothlisberger’s world. In my office, the non-attorneys can wear jeans on Fridays but my boss only allows the attorneys to wear them on Fundraising Fridays when you pay $5 for the privilege. In 35 years of practice, I have never worn pants, let alone jeans, to work. I do keep my sneakers on on fundraising days and pay $5 for that privilege.

What a weird thing. I’ve worked at a lot of clients of different types. I’ve had some (even in recent years, an international investment bank) that didn’t allow jeans. Or only allowed them on a day if you paid for a United Way sticker or something. But they never tried to dictate what brand of jeans. For me, Levi’s happen to fit the best. I often take 20 different pairs into a fitting room before I find something that fits. So when I find something that fits, I’d be pretty annoyed if the business dictated that the brand wasn’t right. You can pay a lot more for scruffier looking jeans, for sure. :frowning:
