which one would u perfer to go for a dregee in business…

Part of UCSC’s campus is clothing-optional, but part of UCSD’s beach is clothing-optional.

So it all depends… naked on campus, or naked on the beach?

lol…u didn’t ans my question :)

UCSD is more known for engineering and science and one of my friend is actually choosing UCSC over UCSD and UCD just bcs of her business major :D

interesting…thx…ur comment help me out a lot :)

sd’s economics is ranked in top ten in the nation

Kobe,
Having a business degree with no MBA will make employment opportunities a little on the tough side. Do you want to be a CPA?

whats a cba? Anyways, I planning to get a MBA too but at another university such as UCB…

CPA is if you want to be an accountant, perhaps pursuing a field where you manage people’s finance and that kind of stuff…boring but pays a nice penny…

Certified Public Accountant = CPA
Kobe if you want to get an MBA do not go business for undergrad. MBA programs don’t want business undergrads and will turn you away. You are better off to get a degree in Economics (or almost anything) if you plan to apply to an MBA program. Please call around a little and look in to this.

thx a lot…but i dont wanna to be an accountant, i planning to become a bank officer (balancing buget, etc)

collegemom:

why wound’t MBA’s want Business undergrads?

thats totally illogical

they don’t decide what they “want” or not.

they need a high gpa, and motivation

being an undergrad business person and not getting accepted into an MBA BECAUSE one is a businss major is the stupidist thing I’ve heard in a while

My D’s college counselor (private) was an admissions officer at a UC (not allowed to say which one, but high level) He was the adcom for the school’s MBA program and this is his advice. Look into it if you don’t trust me.

graduate school admissions officers look for students with wide background. If you major in business administration, you only know about business. But if one majors in some other area, and applies to MBA program (of course with good test score), admissions officers pick that person over the person who majored in business administration with the same test score.

I read it in the book so the information should be solid.

Thanks senson. I looked for a link last night but was unable to find one. I will ask my D’s counselor about where to find more concrete information. What you said was exactly what he said though. :)

Sounds good. Does anyone know what minor would be good if I was planning on getting an MBA? Right now, I’m going in as a Joint Economics and Mathematics major.

interesting. I take it back then

but it still seems illogical to me because a business undergrad would surely want an MBA

however, I do get the part that they want a person with a “wide” background, but I do NOT get the part where they would choose other fields OVER business undergrad.

:]

You don’t need to major in business to get an MBA–all one has to do is meet the required courses specified by a business school’s creiterium.

With that being said, as long as the required courses are met, Business schools would rather find someone with a wider repertoire so they could be more adaptive/helpful in the workfield. BA/Business is good for people who want to go into business without attending Grad School.
