Business or CAS

Basically after I submitted my application my life changed after reading a book that changed what I want to do with the rest of my life. So I had put down on my application that I wanted to study at CAS and possibly have a second major as a backup plan at Olin. But after this book, I know I want to be at the business school with a possible double major within the business school. If I get into CAS will I be able to transfer to Olin without a lot of trouble?

I think that majoring across schools is pretty easy (thats wut they say). I am CAS but I plan to pick up a major in Olin as well!

What book and more details on your life change?

Wow, no one is ever interested in that, but I will share it if you want to know. So I have been obsessed with sports since I was like 10; especially football, basketball, baseball, and tennis. I had always thought that I wanted to become a sports writer because I liked sports and wanted a career in it, but did not really know what else I could do with it. Then I took a class called Sports and Entertainment Marketing where we watched the movie Jerry Maguire. At that point I became very interested in sports agency, so I bought a book called The Business of Sports Agents. This book truly inspired me to become the female Jerry Maguire where I could utilize both my love of sports and my ability to negotiate. So with this change of heart I want to major in marketing along with a possible second business major or political science because I might want to be a sports attorney so law school would be necessary. That’s basically my story.

Marketing is not looked upon favorably by emplayers; it is an “easy” major. If I were you I would get a primary major in Arts & Sciences in whatever you are interested in, and then get a SECOND major in marketing. Since you are planning to go to law school anyway, it isn’t important what you major in. What IS important is that you get a well rounded education with strong writing/argumentation skills.
