businesses who offer discounts or prizes for liking them on facebook

I’m not innately opposed to the idea, but I have reservations about businesses buying good PR and essentially betraying the whole soul of the concept. If you like something because the business gave you a 10% discount on a purchase for your vote, it makes the whole system rather cheap.

Have you ever seen a commercial with a famous spokesperson promoting a product? Same concept. A business compensates an individual for publicly supporting their product or service.

Yeah welcome to Capitalism where integrity is stupidity.

That’s advertising. Not a big deal. Good for us. Good for them. Great.

yeah, what’s the problem? And where is the loss of integrity? It’s all about making money and saving money. Both of which happen thanks to this.

I like it. Every 1000 fans of Cupcake station means free cupcake day. I am not saying no to free cupcakes!

it cheapens the idea; a local artist who won 70,000 likes by being important enough that people on their own free time would have that artist pop into their head for liking, should be much higher-ranked than some stupid shop that won the same amount through profligate incentivising. it also distorts data collection.

Yes I agree Woody all actions should be judged strictly on their monetary value.
