Butler University Data Breach

Butler feels that anyone that filled out a Butler application in the last few decades may be at risk.

My son applied for the 2010-2011 academic year but decided not to attend. He received a letter the other day about this. He didn’t think he’d be at risk because all he did was apply I told him he has to sign up for the credit monitoring - his name, address, DOB, SSN were all on file. This is not something to be taken lightly.

My 2010 HS grad received the same letter. I should probably make sure he follows up. They are offering a free year of credit monitoring.

Last few decades, they say? Wonder if that would include my dad, God rest his soul, who graduated from there in 1951.

I received my M.S. from Butler in 1982 and I got a letter.

^^^ Wow, that’s kind of crazy. Decades of applicants!

My 2008 applicant didn’t get the letter. Maybe it was because I wouldn’t let him put his ss# on any applications.
