Hi, is it worth it to buy the suggested books? Or should I just stick with the required texts?

Thanks!

Also, what is a reader?

Recommended books are just to supplement your studies. You can only use the required materials and get an A. If you know you might need more help in another area, buy the recommended stuff.

Can you check your syllabus online? For one of my classes, it suggested I buy an atlas. A large portion of my grade was identifying geographical areas, so I bought the atlas to help me with that. But if you have a photographic memory or something, you may not need an atlas.

Thanks!

Where can i check my syllabus?

A reader is just a bunch of excerpts/articles/etc. your prof puts together. You can pick them up at a copy store or buy used if they haven’t changed.

I just googled my classes + berkeley. Some times a syllabus showed up, some times it doesn’t.

You could check the dept. page and see if there’s pages for the different courses. Or look up your teacher, sometimes they make a website with a syllabus/schedule.
