Buying College Essays Is Now Easier Than Ever. But Buyer Beware

The student quotes in this article are just astonishing.

This is dishonest.

Arrrgh

From one of the writers:

While clearly dishonest in the academic world, it is called delegation of duties in the business world.

OMG! What?!?! Where is the moral compass???

When you delegate, you don’t say the work is your own.

As a commission chair. I regularly delegate tasks. But I never take credit for doing them alone myself

Many who do delegate work do take credit (and responsibility) for the final product–especially in the practice of law–while others credit their team.

Opinions from judges & justices are only signed by one person although written and researched in large part by law clerks.

One writer actually makes that argument.

Of course you know, as do we all, that the point of college is not to accomplish a particular task, as is the case in the business world. It is to learn by doing the task.

Yes, that is one reason that I distinguished the two.

@Ohiomomof2 : Thank you for sharing this article.

Isn’t Plagarism the use of someone else’s work without accurately noting that author?

If a student is totally using someone else’s writing…to me…that is plagiarism.

@thumper1 Of course it is. That person is making a nonsensical distinction between “written by someone else” and “written at some point before and copied”.

Interesting text analysis tool TurnitIn has developed to combat this.

Boo hoo, poor busy students. If they have too much work due at the same time, it’s because they are managing their time poorly. My kid goes to a rigorous school with a lot of homework. She worked two campus jobs, went away for a short break, had to do weekly sessions at a nursery school for her course, had additional language labs, and had tons of writing assignments. She got all A’s. She knows how to manage her time. The students in the article are pathetic.

I love it, lol
I can picture the conversations
Please Please Please write this paper for me. I’ll give you $50.
I don’t have time to write a paper and play video games.

Ludicrous

Remember the days we actually had to spend even more time going into physical libraries and hand copying the references we found too?

You clearly need a ghostwriter

As a composition teacher, I think my head nearly exploded reading this. Especially the “poor dears don’t have time for travel and internships with all that icky learning.”

Watching ‘Back to School’ with Rodney Dangerfield should be mandatory.

@Tanbiko I’ll see how much it costs to get somebody from EduBirdie to write my posts for me…

Colleges and college professors assure us that they’re good at detecting this kind of fraud. But I doubt it, or the writing mills wouldn’t be thriving and getting so much repeat business.

On thing to consider is adjunct professors. They’re frightfully underpaid and overworked. Do they care if their students cheat? Is it worth it to them to bring a cheater forward for punishment? Probably not.
