Buying Safe, Reliable Mid-Sized Sedan For Us--Suggestions?

We never leave anything of valuable visible in an unattended car. As you say, have been told it attracts thieves.

I’ve had a couple, which just refused to turn on one day. I leave them in the car, when they are not in use they are stored in the console bin, so are not left out in the sunlight.

I buy the cheaper ones though, like a Nuvi 40 or Nuvi 50. Since they die so quickly I can’t see spending $250+ on one.

I’ve bought whatever Costco sells, which has cost up to $200. Some of them stop turning on, some can never figure out where we are, some say we are getting off the freeway and back on while we stay on the same freeway the whole time. H updates the map but these problems remain. Just glad we have iPhones as backup. This way in case one device has no reception, the other may. Has saved us several times.

The 2 cars we have with touch screens also have voice commands. You need to learn the right words, but after a month it becomes 2nd nature.

For example in our Ford Edge to set the temperature to 72 you push button & say:

Climate (wait for acknowledgment)
Set Temperature
72 (or whatever number)

Setting a destination while you’re driving is a bit trickier but it can be done.
It also has blue tooth, so you just push the button and say “Call xxxx” as long as the person is in your contact list.
