<p>Has anyone bought tires from Costco? What has your experience been like? What about stems, disposal fees, installation, etc., and then follow on rotations?</p>
<p>They carry only two brands, but both are high-end. Not sure if I really need the 90,000 warranty Michelin’s for my car that has 128K miles.</p>
<p>We buy all our tires from Costco and have only had positive experiences. They will rotate at no charge and their prices are competitive. We had no qualms about putting top-of-the line tires on our aging vehicles–a small price to pay to be safer while driving. Would highly recommend them. Sometimes they do have sales, especially if you’re replacing all four tires, but we’ve rarely replaced 4 at a time, so have never taken advantage of it.</p>
<p>Very good. They canget other brands if you want to order. Very picky about using “proper” tire for the car. No custom prefs allowed.</p>
<p>I almost always replace all four tires at a time, so I do watch for specials, but I have also had good experiences buying tires at Costco. Better than at national or regional tire chains, actually. Selection is a little limited, yes, but I have found Costco to be a good place to get a good price on very good tires. And I haven’t felt nickel-and-dimed; the price I found by shopping online was the price I paid at the register.</p>
<p>I’ve never had a problem with tires or installation at Costco. What may be more informative, however, is that when my sister-in-law did (I forget what it was–maybe the tires were not properly balanced when they were installed?), Costco was good about making it right.</p>
<p>What I loved about buying tires at Costco in pothole-filled Brooklyn, NYC was that if I had a flat for any reason, they would replace the tire for the cost of the sales tax. No extra “insurance” necessary for this service. (There was an increased cost for worn tread.)</p>
<p>Just had 4 tires put on a few weeks ago. Used a coupon. Quick and easy. They called me in the store while I was shopping to tell me the car was ready.</p>
<p>I have Costco bought tires on my car. I found they had the best price and the service good. My S needs tires on his Volvo and we checked Costco but the options are out of his price range. I think Costco has the best price if you buy high end tires.</p>
<p>Also agree with everything above. I have used Costco exclusively for tires for the last 15 years. They’re not on commission so don’t try to sell more than you need, and their service people are really nice.</p>

<p>FYI, Costco fills tires with nitrogen - marked by a green cap - so you need to have them checked and refilled at a Costco. (We have Costco tires on one car.) Other than locking you to them, nitrogen leaks less - bigger molecules of it - so you have more consistent tire pressure that lasts longer. </p>
<p>I would think about this if I did not live near a Costco.</p>
<p>You can usually now buy some sort of warranty service with a tire. But those tend not to be as comprehensive as Costco’s.</p>

<p>We’ve bought our replacement tires at Costco for the past 10 years or more. Great experience. While they do fill the tires with nitrogen, which leaks out less easily than plain air, you don’t actually have to put nitrogen in the tires if you need to fill them while you are on the road. Putting air in just reduces the benefit you get from using the nitrogen.</p>

<p>Another positive experience with Costco tires. I used the coupon for a set of Michelin the last time after checking the price elsewhere; Costco was cheaper or the same as other stores and had the exact tires I was going to put on the car if I had purchased from our local tire store.</p>
<p>I’ve purchased tires from Costco numerous times and have been happy with their price and technical ability to install the tires but not so happy with their service in that their wait times are usually long. They’ve usually been slow to help me in the showroom and then slow to actually mount the tires. This was experienced on multiple occasions.</p>
<p>Costco’s showroom selection is also not very good IMO. They have a relatively limited selection of tires although they can acquire more than they have in the showroom if you’re willing to wait some days for them to show up.</p>
<p>I’ve pretty much switched to getting tires at Discount Tire. They have more locations than Costco, have better service as far as showroom attention and time to mount the tires, the price is about the same as Costco (plus they’ll match), and they readily fix any flats with no hassle.</p>
<p>I rotate my own tires so I haven’t experienced either place for that.</p>
<p>They also offer free tire rotation but the negative for me is the wait time of 60 to 90 minutes or longer-- unless you arrive 30 minutes before the store opens. I have found even arriving that early, I’m almost never the first few customers in line.</p>
<p>I’m noticing that dealers are tired of Costco and others getting all the tire business and have dropped their prices for tires, including their labor.</p>
<p>My H buys his tires from Costco, I don’t only because it is inconvenient for me. We each have a “preferred brand” and consistently Costco has the best price on his tires which is why he goes there. I shop my tire prices and my service garage ‘matches’ the best price I find so they handle my tires. Both of us buy by brand then price and generally “take care of” our own cars.</p>
<p>We buy most of our tires from Costco, although sometimes we’ll buy them at Sam’s Club (they’re about 2 miles apart in our town.) Great experiences with both of them.</p>
<p>Another satisfied Costco tire customer. They usually have a $70 off coupon in their monthly mailings. They rotate for free. They fix flats for free. They are in many cities so if you get a flat tire somewhere else, you still can get tire fixed for free!</p>
<p>Ditto. All our cars have Costco tires. Fix flats for free, replace tires if they can’t be repaired, rotates them for free.</p>
