BW joins NAMT

Music Theatre Joins NAMT
The music theatre program at Baldwin-Wallace has been accepted for membership in the National Alliance for Musical Theatre, a prestigious advocacy organization. Its membership includes music theatre producing organizations, the League of Resident Theatres (LORT), regional theatres, casting agencies, universities and individuals.

Scott Plate, lecturer in the Conservatory and music theatre program manager, said NAMT provides a national networking opportunity that puts the Conservatory on the front line of new developments in the music theatre field. It also will provide valuable new opportunities for students to collaborate with composers and other top-flight practitioners currently working in the profession. Plate said one of the highlights for B-W is that our program will be able to capitalize on a national trend to develop and workshop new music theatre works in the college setting. Membership in the program is a signal from the professional world that the B-W program is highly regarded.
