Byerly or Hanna need help!

My kid is very keen to pursue either a degree in economics or science. However, he was not able to get any internship in economics. Based on his last year research, this summer he is offered a research in a cutting edge biochemistry field with a Noble Laureate. He is thrilled with the opportunity and would like to pursue it. However he is concerned that most of his summer is devoted to either math camps or science research. Should he choose to major in economics, will it hurt him during admission process that he has no economics/political background?

His planned major won’t affect his application either way. Most kids change their minds, and the office knows that.

No application could possibly be “hurt” by taking a prestigious internship - no matter what the subject area.
