C in a summer course— should I include it?

Between my freshman and sophomore year, I took a class at this prestigious summer program. The class was directly connected (subject-wise) to what I would like to study in grad school. Unfortunately, since it was a grad-level language course, I struggled tremendously to understand the material, and felt incorrectly placed into the course. I ended that summer with a C. So while this is a program that is very well-known among people in my major, the grade isn’t up to my usual standards (4.0 gpa). It’s also worth mentioning that I didn’t receive any academic credit for the course.

So my question is:
Should I include the course on my application (in the resume/CV section most likely)? Or should I include the course but not attach a transcript from the class (it would be attached separate from my undergrad transcript)?

Btw this is posted in the wrong forum, but I don’t know how to change it!

If it is an academic class taken at an academic institution you have to report it and colleges will expect to see an official transcript from that course.

Application for what? Grad school? Job?

I’ll move this after you clarify.

“It’s also worth mentioning that I didn’t receive any academic credit for the course.”

What do you mean no academic credit? Were you just sitting in on the class for fun without being formally registered?

For grad school, thanks!

I was registered for the class through another college, but I took it just for fun. I didn’t need the academic credit, so I never went through the process of having the credit transferred to my home college.

I don’t see why op HAS to include this evidently non-credit class in his/her application.

You took a college class and received a grade. You didn’t receive credit at your home college because you didn’t report it, not because there wasn’t any credit attached to it. If the grad schools you apply to require all college transcripts, I think you have to include it.

If this was a non-credit or continuing education credit course, you don’t send a transcript for a grad school application. You can write about it in extra information.

If this was a credit clas, even if you didn’t need the credit to graduate from your home college, it should have been reported to them as you were a student there in a degree program at that time. Then you could have had a discussion about transfer credits or not.

If it was a credit class you have to have the transcript sent when you apply to grad school.
